Happy Friday!! I am excited it is finally Friday as I have fun plans this weekend. A few of my fitness friends (women I have met through working out) and I are attending workouts together this weekend and then heading to brunch both Saturday and Sunday. We are going to AK Dance taught by our friend Lindsay Howe and Precision Run taught by our other friend Sarah Grooms. It is going to be a fun weekend filled with friends, mimosas, and some serious sweat sessions!
Lately I have mentioned, probably in every SS series this month, how I have been feeling unmotivated and uninspired. Anyway, I am fully back to being my old self. I decided to create a vision board of things that I want to manifest, do, achieve, and have; from business and personal goals to material items to a dream home/car to where I want to travel to how I want to be as a person and more. I shared my vision board on Instagram Stories, so hopefully you saw the final product. Creating my vision board was simply a way for me to be creative outside of my work, narrow down what I truly want, procrastinate on my work (ha!), and have a little fun with arts and crafts. I didn’t realize at the time of creating my VB that it would be what I needed to become inspired and motivated again. I now look at my vision board, placed right next to my TV so I can look at it all day long, and feel a sense of inspiration, hope, faith, and excitement.
This is the 3rd time in my life that I have created a vision board and let me tell you, it works. The last time I did one was in 2015- I had just moved back to Columbus and was very depressed. My board is still proudly hung up in my childhood home. Over the holidays I was looking at my board and it dawned on me that 70% of what I put on the board has come true in the past 5 years. On my list that have come true: Move back to New York, head back to the Hamptons, visit Charleston, attend a polo match, be in Instyle magazine, attend a Lela Rose NYFW show, live in a studio apartment, work with Kate Spade, and a few other more personal ones. I was amazed at what has manifested in my life that I put on my vision board. For my new one, I am excited to see what will come true in the next few years. I have some of my old goals from my previous VB that have not come true, yet, and a lot of new goals and dreams. I made a vision board in 2014 for my blog, but it was more of a mood board– trying to get the tone for what I wanted this blog to look like, my aesthetics, and it helped me to create a name. So no personal goals, just another way to create a vision.
Besides being Martha Stewart, I took Monday off for MLK Day. I went to see the Oscar-nominated movie 1917. It is SO good!!! I highly recommend seeing it in theatres before it is released to iTunes. It felt as if you are right there with the two British soldiers as they travel through Europe during WWl trying to get this important message to another company. It was 2 hours of anxiety and I loved it. The movie is supposed to look like one long shot– explains here how they did it. It’s a great movie and worth all of the nominations/awards it receives.
Besides seeing movies, I had two events this past week. The first being Olay, celebrating the launch of their Body Labs line. The idea behind Body Labs is that we do x amount of steps to take care of our face but neglect the rest of our body by using only soap. Olay created a body wash that will cleanse and firm your skin by using collagen and Vitamin B3 and a body conditioner with either shea butter, Vitamin E or coconut oil. I was given the shea butter to try, along with the body wash, and so far I like it. Since I have only had the items for a few days I can’t say I see any real results, but I love the idea of putting collagen and shea butter on my body– especially the shea butter because New York is so dry. Besides the launch, they had the Allure podcast for a live episode taping with Keke Palmer– who is the current celebrity face of Olay. I know of Keke Palmer’s work as an actress and knew she is an add-on host for Good Morning America, but have never really listened to her speak before. She was hilarious and well-spoken. I enjoyed listening to her story about beauty and confidence. Definitely lookout for the episode on Allure’s podcast.
The other event I attended this past week was the spring preview for Draper James. Ugh, it was so hard to look at spring dresses when it’s 30 degrees outside. Anyway, the spring collection looks amazing with beautiful prints, classic Draper James blues, some must-have yellow dresses, cute jewelry and handbags, and a line for loungewear and for brides! The event was held at Il Fiorista restaurant in NoMad. I have never been there before and definitely want to go back for brunch and dinner. To the Draper James event, I wore this cute blouse and bangle set.
As mentioned my weekend is going to be filled with friends and fitness. Other than that I want to finish my book and maybe go see another movie– I want to see Uncut Gems, Knives Out, and Bombshell.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
