-The Female Hustlers

Happy Friday! New York Fashion Week has officially begun! It doesn’t feel like it is NYFW. Winter fashion week is much more relaxed than the one in September. Still, even after getting invites and already attending a preview and a presentation, it doesn’t feel like it’s fashion week. Maybe it is because I went into it knowing I didn’t want to attend as many shows as I normally would. It may also be because I didn’t do my normal preparation for the week– nails and hair done, planning/buying outfits. Although it does not feel like its NYFW, I am still excited for the shows I am going to!

Fashion week started for me on Tuesday when I went to Lafayette148’s collection preview. The preview was to showcase the upcoming months– so items that are currently in stock up to this coming fall. An ongoing trend for Lafayette this year is gemstones/granite. From necklaces to dresses, this beautiful print will be woven throughout the year in various ways. But besides the print, another trend was ruffles and I am all for it!

My next NYFW event was the L’Agence presentation at The Bowery Hotel. You can view the presentation here! I loved all of the suiting and mustard yellow garments. Having it at The Bowery Hotel was the perfect setting for this presentation; dark mahogany and velvet couches. I have always been much more in favor of runway shows, but I am starting to think I enjoy presentations more during the winter fashion week. It’s a come and go whenever you want during the 2-hour time frame. It’s relaxed and enjoyable; grab a drink, chat with friends, and look at clothes… what more could a girl ask for!

Today I have the Pamella Roland show. She always has the most fairytale-like dresses and I can not wait to be mesmerized by the beauty of it all. Sunday I have the Tibi presentation that I am really looking forward to.  I have more shows next week and am still waiting to hear back from a few brands– it’s normal to be invited to a show the day before.

Besides fashion week I went to the Flywheel x Redkens event Tuesday evening. I haven’t been to Flywheel in a few years– usually if I am going to a cycling class it will be SoulCycle. I do like Flywheel, but SoulCycle is much more my style in terms of cycling to the rhythm of the music. Flywheel is a good workout, and feel it emphasis more on resistance than SoulCycle does. They also have the option to put your name on the screen to track your progress against everyone else’s. I always opt-out of that– I never do that for any type of workout. Anyway, the event was fun and there were SO many people there. I walked in and it was complete chaos! I saw afterward on Social Media that a few of my friends were there that I didn’t see during the event. Completely missed them! After the workout Redkens was there to do our hair using their new Dry Shampoo Powder.

To be honest, all I’ve wanted to do lately is to sit on my couch and listen to music. I was really into creating (new) playlists this week to listen to while I work at home or go to and from a workout. Making playlists makes me feel like I am back in high school and college when all I did was listen to music and create mixed CDS….. my age is showing….. If I really want to show my age, I remember sitting by the radio for HOURS waiting for a song to come on so I could hit record on my mixed tape when I was a kid. Now it is so much easier to create playlists and discover new music, I like it much better.

This weekend, as mentioned, I have NYFW stuff to go to, but I am also FINALLY going to the chiropractor. I am long overdue for a visit. I can physically feel that I am out of alignment and my body hurts. I have been day-dreaming of getting my neck cracked…. it is going to be marvelous. I also want to start my “spring cleaning” and get rid of clothes I no longer wear. I really need to declutter. It also gives me an excuse to listen to my new playlists.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
