Happy Friday! As we slowly start to open up the economy I am hesitant to go back to NYC. The last I heard NYC will reopen May 15th, yet I haven’t heard of any specific plans in how this will happen in just a few short days. As of now, my plan is to go back to NYC on June 1st. I am very eager to get back but want to make sure when I do it is safe. Until then I will continue to enjoy and cherish this extra time I have with my parents.

I am grateful that I am quarantine with my parents right now so I am celebrating Mother’s Day with them. As we can’t be with the rest of our family and my grandmother, we are still planning on celebrating just the 3 of us. We will start off the day with a delicious brunch, followed by a walk in the park. I am sure we will relax outside on the patio if weather permits. In the evening we will order food from a local restaurant and most likely make s’ mores (my mom’s favorite). I hope she has a wonderful day and feels loved even though we can’t really do too much to celebrate; nor can we have the annual Mother’s Day dinner at our house with our entire family.

Nothing truly exciting has happened this past week. Last Friday I woke up with the worst back spasm to the point I couldn’t move. I had to lie down on the couch most of the day switching between ice and hot packs. I tried to foam roll but it would cause pain to shoot up my neck, and my massage ball would make me nauseous. Unfortunately due to the current state of the world, I am not able to go to the chiropractor or get a massage. Which is what I would normally do to treat back pain. If you remember earlier this year I was having issues with my neck/shoulder/back on my left side and ended up having to go to the chiropractor a few times and got a medical-massage. It’s the same pain but this time on the right side. Anyway, as the week progressed the pain lessened. It still hurts a little but I am able to move and workout. I did do a few workouts this past week, just to get myself moving. I first did yoga to stretch and detox my body. Next, I did Megan Roup’s sculpt class without weights. Megan’s class is fast pace so I knew even without weights I would still benefit from the strength and cardio portions of the workout. After Megan’s class, I decided to do a few of Dancebody’s new quarter dances. I wanted to dance and it was a great way to loosen up my muscles. It also put me in the best move. Thursday I wanted to work out but still hesitant on using weights so I went for a run. It was the first time I have gone running since February. I ended up running 2 miles, which surprised me. I thought I would barely run a mile. It felt so good to run and be outside! Now my back still has a little pain but nothing that can inhibit me from doing things. This weekend I want to incorporate weights (lightweights) into my workout and maybe go for another run.

This past week my parents and I tried a local food delivery service here in Columbus called Luxe and Lemons. My sister Amanda recommended them to us. Luxe and Lemons are a healthy food delivery service that has pre-made meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and snacks. All you have to do is microwave the pre-made meals for a minute or two. They have a lot of gluten-free and dairy-free options. It is so nice, at least for me being GF, to have more options for dinner and breakfast. I never end up cooking gnocchi or a casserole for myself at home, and to be honest most restaurants will not offer such meals as a GF option. Everything we have had so far has been delicious. The portions size is pretty good and I have yet to leave a meal feeling overly stuffed. It’s a great option to have, especially right now as we have been stuck at home for months on end and are tired of cooking. And there are only a few restaurants in Columbus that are open which are healthy and gluten-free. Even the restaurants that I used to be able to go to were only offering non-gluten-free options. I am going to be sad when I go back to NYC and can no longer order from Luxe and Lemons.

This weekend we have nothing planned except to celebrate Mother’s Day. I will continue to read my new book, catch-up on a few shows (so excited that Dead to Me is back!!), workout (hopefully), ride bikes with my dad, and relax.

Have a wonderful, safe, and healthy weekend xo
