swimwear

Back in March when I was packing to temporarily move to Columbus to wait out the COVID-19, I was in the mindset I would only be here for a month. I ignorantly (or just in denial) did not expect the virus to still be very much present. I did not expect to possibly spend my summer in Ohio. At the beginning of the year, I envision my summer spent in the Hamptons, frolicking around the city, and maybe a trip to Charleston. Clearly that is not happening….as of now.

When I was packing back in March I was packing for winter; turtlenecks, sweaters, jeans. I didn’t think to pack my swimsuits, dresses, or shorts. Really regretting this decision. Since I am not sure when I will head back to the city (maybe the end of June), I am on the lookout to buy not only summer dresses but swimwear. The club my parents belong to is going to open up their pool this summer but at half capacity and only allowing pool-goers to be there for a certain duration. My parent’s neighbor has a pool that he has graciously allowed us to use whenever we want since I was a little kid. So there will be a few opportunities for me to lounge by the pool, and I would prefer to do it in a bikini and not my turtleneck.

For the past few years, my swimsuit of choice has been high-waisted bikini bottoms. They are comfortable, retro, and fashionable. I don’t think I will ever go back to wearing low-rise bikini bottoms. Another type of swimsuit I have been looking at this year is the classic one-piece. Last year I was gifted a one-piece swimsuit and wore it while at our neighbor’s pool swimming with my niece. I was grateful for the full coverage. I now understand why moms wear one-piece suits; it’s easier to move around with your kids without a slip-up. Anyway, as I am sure I will be spending time with my niece at the pool or running around the sprinkler, I would like a one-piece swimsuit to comfortable run around in with her. And then another high-waisted swimsuit for when I want to relax and tan. Here are a few of my top swimwear choices for this summer.
