Some of us may not be able to enjoy the beach or layout by the pool this summer. But if there’s a will there’s a way. I am planning on spending a few weekends trying to find a spot in the park 6ft away from everyone else. To lay peacefully with the sun on my skin and pretend life is normal. Whether our towels lay on the sand or on the grass we will find a way to wear our swimsuits and get a tan (wear your SPF!). Heading to and from the park or the pool one needs a cover-up, especially here in New York. I am not about to walk around the city in just my bikini. And no sarongs for this lady. I need something to easily throw on over my swimsuit and one that is acceptable to wear into a store or restaurant. I currently have a romper that I wear, but would much prefer a cute cover-up dress.
A cover-up is much more than just a fashionable addition to your beachwear. They help protect your skin from the sun. There are many different styles of cover-ups you can choose from that not only match your taste but compliments your swimsuit. Kaftans are very popular right now as we want to feel comfortable and cool while being quarantined at home. They give you the most coverage to protect your skin from the sun. A shirt dress is a tailor-made menswear style that gives you an effortless look. Button it up while you go to and from the pool, unbutton it while you lounge like a kimono. The tunic is the most classic cover-up item to wear. It is a lightweight, loose fit but still has somewhat of a structure to it. The type of cover-up I am currently looking for is a beach dress. Something loose-fitting, possibly tied at the waist, that you can wear from poolside to the restaurant. Beach dresses or sundresses are a little bit dressier than normal cover-ups.
