“There are years that ask questions and years that answer”

Happy Friday! Today is a somber day as we remember the events of 9/11. I will never forget this day; where I was while watching the devastation of the twin towers being hit. The fear, sadness, confusion, and anger that rippled through the country. What came out of this tragedy was unity. We banned together as a country, as one nation, as a family.

I was in school on my way to class when the news broke out that the first tower was hit. I watched kids run to the payphones (ha I know) to call family members who lived, worked, and were visiting NYC. Then when I was in class, science to be exact, we were all glued to the TV as we watched in horror the second tower being hit. My teacher wanted to turn off the tv– I believe we were supposed to be taking a test that day –but we protested to keep it on. The days that followed 9/11 are what this country has forgotten, what we truly need to remember. We united as one; Democrats and Republicans, different races and ethnicities, different sexual orientations, different careers and income, men and women of all ages. Everyone united, helping each other out, giving each other love and compassion as we mourned. Right now more than ever we need to remember the days that followed 9/11. We are more divided than ever as a nation and it’s heartbreaking. I am tired of this divide, the hatred from every political and social aspect. The pettiness of people’s comments. The bias, falsified narratives of every media, and news outlet to further divide our country (from BOTH political parties). Yes, this is a great year of awakening, of movements that are long overdue, and shining light on distasteful behavior, but we lost the love and compassion we have for each other as a nation. We need to remember the days that followed 9/11. And to the men and women who lost their lives that day, we will never forget you. To those that ran towards the buildings as an act of service, patriotism, and humanity- thank you for your bravery.

Right now I should be sitting in a crowded room watching models walk down the runway wearing exquisite clothing. This would have been the start of NYFW, but like everything else this year, things have changed. A lot of the designers and brands went digital, while some are still choosing to host a show/presentation but with a very small select group. Although it is a smart decision to not hold fashion week, nor would I attend if brands were having shows, it’s still sad to not be a part of it this year. I love NYFW. I love getting to see the upcoming collections. Swooning over each outfit passing by, not only from the brands themself but from the fashionable people in the streets. It’s a week unlike any other, truly magical. One that I dreamt about for years to be a part of, and now I pinch myself as I attend. Luckily there are different ways we can still watch the shows– check out NYFW to stream the shows.

Even though this was a shorter week due to the holiday, it still felt very long. Yesterday I woke up to no internet connection. Normally I would just gather my things and head to a cafe nearby, but it’s a pandemic and you are not allowed to sit indoors as of now. I know I could find a restaurant or cafe and sit outside, but it was supposed to rain and I didn’t want to chance it. So I spent all morning trying to get my internet back up and running. I was on the phone with Spectrum for a while trying to reboot the modem. They said that my internet had been out all night/morning but there wasn’t an outage, so clearly my modem was the problem. I scheduled for a technician to come and replace my modem, then ran to Verizon to purchase a Jetpack wireless hotspot so I can actually do my work for the day. About 7 hours later and $200 spent, my internet decided to magically start working out of nowhere. I am grateful it is working, but it was a stressful day.

Last weekend I did not go to Greenwich, CT like I wanted to. I knew it was going to be a last-minute decision. When I woke up on Sunday morning I felt pulled to go to Brooklyn instead of Connecticut. I still want to visit Greenwich in the near future, however. I think it came down to wanting to plan more; what streets are a must/ cafes to have lunch at/ how to get around, etc. Instead of exploring Greenwich, I spent the weekend sunbathing in Sheep Meadow in Central Park. I haven’t been to the park since before the pandemic. It felt great to feel normal, be around new scenery, and spend time in nature under the sun. Of course, I had to stop by my favorite part of Central Park, the Duck Pond. Yes, the famous pond that Blair Waldroff goes to throughout Gossip Girl. Anyway, there is a bench I frequent that is along the south side of the pond in this scenic pathway. The pathway is lined with lamp posts and trees that create a nice shade. The bench that I always sit on has a nice view of the entire pond, extending out to the bridge. Personally I think it’s the best view of the pond. I sit there for hours pondering life, enjoying nature, and listening to music. It’s my calm, happy place.

As mentioned I also went to Brooklyn over the weekend. I walked around Dumbo for a while. It was nice to see the Time Out building busy and people in the Brooklyn Bridge Park having picnics. I sat near Jane’s Carousel (which is closed), to look over at the view of downtown Manhattan. Then I went and had ice cream, strawberry, at Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory. It was a lovely day!

The rest of my week has been fine, just fine. I had a webinar with RewardStyle to talk about the upcoming #LTKfallday. From September 20th-22nd, select brands with be hosting a sale only on the LTK app. So be sure to follow me for exclusive sale items to shop! I will also share them on my socials to remind you of the fall sale.

This weekend I will be watching the finals of the US Open. They have been pretty exciting with all of the upsets and disqualifications. For the men, everyone who is left has never won a Grand Slam before. For the women, this was the first time 3 mothers were in the semi-finals! It’s going to be an exciting weekend for tennis.

Another exciting thing I am doing this weekend is heading uptown to go to the Met Museum. The museums have finally opened a few weeks ago, but you do need to purchase a ticket in advance for a certain time. I looked into going to either the Met or MOMA, but both were sold out for the weekend. MOMA is actually sold out for the entire month of September. I am grateful I was able to get a ticket for the Met this weekend so I can aimlessly walk around looking at art. It’s been too long.

Sunday night I will be attending MISCAST virtual show. Each year the MCC Theater host the MISCAST to celebrate Broadway. MISTCAST is filled with Broadway stars singing songs from shows they are not cast in. It’s a fun way to switch things up, hear other voices sing our favorite tunes. It should be a great evening and one that I am very much looking forward to!

What I am watching: About to finish season 3 of Selling Sunset. I am obsessed with this show! I really did not think I was going to like it as much, was reluctant to even watch it. The only reason I caved and pressed play on season 1 was because I had nothing else to watch and everyone kept raving about it. And I would be lying if I said I wasn’t curious about how the divorce between Justin Hartley and Chrishell went down. Petition to boycott Justin Hartley!! But besides the drama, I love the Real Estate part of the show- looking at million-dollar homes and seeing these women kill it at their jobs, making huge commissions. It makes me almost want to reconsider going into Real Estate again…. almost. If I was selling million-dollar homes I may have had a different attitude. I also realized that I do not like houses in LA. Yes, most if not all of the homes are stunningly beautiful but very contemporary. I prefer the traditional, colonial style.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend xo
