“Some people are artists. Some, themselves, are art”
Happy Friday!! Does anyone else have a little pep to their step because the holidays are around the corner? Only me? I think the merriment that comes with the holidays is exactly what we need. It’s something to look forward to, something that makes us smile. It bonds us together as we celebrate family and tradition month after month. I will be heading back to Ohio sometime mid-November for the remainder of the year to spend the holidays with my family and to welcome my new baby niece into the world. It’s a wonderful ending to a tumultuous year.Did you watch the VP debate this past week? Wow, what a difference from the Presidental debate last week. This was what a real debate should look like. Sure there were interruptions and deflecting answers from both parties, but that is a typical debate. I thought they both equally did a great job; articulately getting their point across. I learned more from the VP debate than I did from the Presidental debate, and that is sad on so many levels. Many are starting to receive mail-in ballots (I received mine), so it’s time to vote! I have heard from a few people from my hometown that they were sent the wrong precinct – this means if they turn in the ballot, it will be invalid. The precinct is located on the top right-hand corner of your ballot. Go online to your state voter website and check your voter registration information. It will tell you the correct precinct- make sure it lines up with the one on your ballot.
Other than all of these maddening political conversations, this past week was calm. I spent most of it trying to prepare for my photoshoot this coming Monday; searching for new items to shoot, scouting locations, etc. I have also been cleaning like a madwoman. I think this pandemic is turning me into Monica Geller. Last weekend I reorganized a few drawers in my dresser and then donated clothes that no longer fit or I haven’t worn in years. I was a little irritated last Saturday when I went to Beacon’s on W13th to sell a faux fur jacket that was in great shape. The jacket originally cost $80 and they gave me $5 for it….. I only accepted because I wanted to get rid of it as the jacket has been sitting in my closet for a few years untouched. It has also been on Poshmark for the same amount of time. I will not be heading back there anytime soon.
I am now a plant mom! As a thank you for attending their NYFW webinar, Lafayette148 sent me a Fig Tree. Unfortunately when I received the plant the vase was completely shattered, thanks to the UPS person who dropped it. I heard a very loud noise and knew the delivery person dropped my package without much care. Honestly, it sounded as if they threw the parcel at my door. I didn’t realize at the time it was a plant, I figured it was probably clothing and that the loud noise was from the impact of hitting my door. Nope, it was them not being careful with a vase even though it clearly said on the package that it was a plant and it was fragile. I was not happy about it, especially since dirt was all over the place. Luckily I had another vase that I put the Fig Tree in, so everything ended up being ok. The Fig Tree now sits proudly on my bookshelf in the hallway by the front door.
What I am watching: I started watching Emily in Paris on Netflix. I have only seen one episode so no spoilers! The show makes me ache to go to Paris. It reminds me a little of The Bold Type and Sex and The City. My first complaint is HOW does she only have 48 followers on Instagram? She is a young 20 something woman living in Chicago that works in marketing / social media. Make it make sense. There is absolutely no way she only has 48 followers. My second complaint is who is the stylist of the show? Some of her outfits are tacky, sorry to say. But then again so were some of Carrie’s and even some of the fashion in Gossip Girl. What I do like about it is that it is in Paris, it’s about social media, has fashion in it, and it’s about a woman taking charge of her life and going after her dreams. Also Ashley Park, who I love, is in it! I saw her in both Mean Girls and Grand Horizons on Broadway.
Last weekend I watched Enola on Netflix. I highly recommend it! I thought it was well crafted and interesting. Millie Bobby Brown is a great actress. For those of you who do not know, Enola is the little sister of Sherlock Holmes. She has the same genius brain as Sherlock; sharp and detailed. Their mother (played by Helena Bonham Carter) goes missing and Enola is on a mission to find her. Along the way there are other mysteries she needs to solve. If you are looking for something to watch this weekend, I suggest watching this!
What I bought: As mentioned I have a cute little niece on the way, so went to my favorite french baby store Jacadi and bought this bunny pajama onesie and this doll. For myself, I bought this puritan collar blouse. Exaggerated lace collars are one of the biggest trends this fall season. I decided to get a sleeveless blouse so I can layer it with a sweater or cardigan. I gathered a few other large collar styles here for you to shop.
This weekend I have no plans as usual. I do need to get a new book, so will be stopping by either Barnes and Noble or a boutique book store sometime this weekend. Will also go for a run as the weather seems to be nice. I do want to walk around South Street Seaport as it is decorated for the fall. I also want to walk around Central Park for the fall foliage. On a whim I bought GF apple waffles. I never buy frozen food, but I saw the waffles at the grocery store this past week and decided I wanted to have them for brunch this weekend. So I am looking forward to eating some yummy waffles!
Have a wonderful weekend xo
