Happy Friday! What a wild, exciting week! Are you following along with the Gamestop / Stock Market situation? I’ve never been more invested (pun intended) in the Stock Market. Prior to this epic takeover, I understood the basics of the market; what it means to buy and sell shares. I personally have investments and my dad is a banker, so I understand the gist of the market. But like most of America, I don’t fully grasp every stock market terminology, nor was I ever interested in learning. I had to google Laymen’s terms for what is going on. How some Reddit user named Roaring Kitty through Wallstreet Bets bankrupt a hedge fund, causing them billions of dollars, and exposed how the rich get richer. It’s all very exciting if you ask me. Wish I put money in those stocks.
Besides living vicariously through Gamestop investors making easy money, my week had its ups and downs. I have been weirdly losing things lately. Like important documents and sentimental items. I swear these things just vanished out of thin air. I am not one to lose things easily, so it’s put my head in a spin. I’ve retraced steps for each item lost, coming up short for a few things. I’ve turned my apartment inside out, looked through every inch of my place and nothing, nada. I finally found the sentimental item earlier today (yay!!), but still looking for the document that I desperately need. My mom sent me the prayer to Saint Anthony- the patron saint of lost things. It helped me find my sentimental item, lets hope St. Anthony blesses me with finding the others.
Another thing that was stressing me out, or perhaps I should say chilling to my bones, was that my radiator was not working. I was suffering through low temps for a few weeks. My body was in constant shiver and felt like ice. Even with my space heater practically on top of me, I was freezing. I finally had enough and called my super to fix the problem. Luckily just in time for the weather to be in the teens with a snow storm coming. I didn’t say or do anything about my radiator because I was home in Ohio for 2 months, and then kept putting off texting me super. Now life is good; I am warm and cozy in my apartment. See you all in April when the weather is warmer!
On the brighter side of things I have started to learn more about astrology. I have always been one to read my horoscope, and love a good tarot card reading, but there is so much more to it than your sun sign. For instance, did you know we all have 3 signs? We are made up of sun, moon, and rising zodiacs. I don’t fully grasp how the placement of planets affect us or really what mercury in retrograde is; except that it can cause things to go haywire. And don’t get me started on what Pluto in the 6th house during Leo season even means. But learning more about what my 3 signs are has helped me understand myself a little bit more. My sun sign is a Virgo- earth sign. Sun signs are the most popular ones known- the month in which you are born. I was born at the end of August which makes me a Virgo. As a Virgo there are a lot of traits I see myself as and a lot that I do not resonate with. Once I found out my other two signs things started to make sense. My moon sign is Sagittarius- which is a fire sign. Our moon sign is our subconscious / emotional side. My rising sign/ ascendant is Libra – air sign. Rising/ascendant is a little bit more complicated to explain, but it’s our body/soul relation as well as our social personalities. One thing that I found interesting is that when you read your horoscope you should be reading your rising sign not your sun sign. I have been reading Virgo horoscopes my entire life, now I have to switch Libra. Feels almost as if I can cheating on being a Virgo. I am not just reading both and picking the one I like best to believe in, ha. The reason for this is that rising horoscopes are more accurate to your life than your sun sign is.
Now I am not sure if I fully believe astrology determines your fate; how the placements of the planets aligning with seasons and time of birth sets the fate and destiny of your life. I think humans are more complex than being pigeonholed into 3 stereotypes. But astrology, I believe, helps make up part of who you are. There is a reason it has been around for centuries. A few months ago I started to notice a pattern of a certain astrological sun sign of guys I have had crushes on and feelings for throughout my life. I would say 85% of guys I have liked are of this certain sun sign. Even right now the majority of guys on my dating apps arethis sign. Even the first guy I have ever had a crush on was this particular sign. And who knows, maybe the guys who held a different sun sign held this particular sign in their moon or rising placements. Not going to ask them to find out. Anyway, my sun sign isn’t the best match (but not the worst) for this particular sun sign. Virgos are compatible with every sign and can be a good match for this particular sign, but other signs are a better match. However, my other two signs perfectly match up with this particular sign (one sign even being its soulmate). I was blown away when I figured that out. I then spoke to my sister about it and she said the same thing with her. That her whole life she has been drawn to Cancer, dating most guys who are in this particular sun sign. My brother-in-law is a Cancer. Blows you away a little! Although it is interesting to know I am drawn to a certain sun sign, it’s not going to alter who I date. I am not going to turn down a date from a guy I am interested in because he is of another zodiac sign. Seems a little silly to me.
Anyway, astrology has been fun and very interesting to read about. I am now looking at both of my sun and rising horoscopes. I started following a few astrologers on Twitter and have been having fun reading their predictions. Whether or not it comes true, I mean they are a broad generic description and not personally tailored to me, it still gives me joy to read them. And if they are particularly exciting– like good things to come– then I get pretty giddy imaging what blessing is on its way. Makes life interesting and entertaining.
This meme is basically me right now….
What I am watching: I rewatched Bridgerton and it’s just as good as watching it the first time. I wanted to rewatch it to see if I missed any clues about who Lady Whistledown is. But lets face it, without Lady W it is still amazing; the clothes, the makeup, the houses, the balls, the dancing, the romance… I could go on. I did start to watch Tiny Pretty Things on Netflix- only one episode into the new series. It sparked my interest because it’s about a ballet academy, which is right up my alley. It feels a little like Center Stage meets Pretty Little Liars. There is a mystery around who pushed the star ballerina off of the roof (it’s the first scene and believe also in the trailer, so not a spoiler). The Netflix show is an adaptation of YA book series. It’s definitely a YA TV show but I love it because they do actually dance and spend most of their time in the studio. It reminds me of growing up in dance class, as well as majoring in dance in college. However, it also triggers a lot of anxiety, insecurities that have sprung from dance– body image issues, pressures, anxiety of messing up. When the Ballet Master is all over one student, constantly correcting them, I felt second hand anxiety. However, it makes me miss dancing so much!!!
What I bought: I was on the hunt for a new book to read. I usually only get one at a time, but ended up getting two books: The Hunting Party and A Lady’s Guide to Mischief and Mayhem. I started with The Hunting Party, which I am still currently reading. My cousin texted me and highly recommended it. A group of best friends get together every NYE to celebrate. This year however, someone ends ups dead (its on the description on the back fo the book). The catch is, you do not know who is dead as well as who did it until the end. I can’t put it down, it’s really good! A Lady’s Guide to Mischief and Mayhem is about a newspaper columnist in London 1865 who helps a detective with a few of his cases. I don’t know much else about it, but it was in the romance section of the book store, so it must also be a love story! If you haven’t noticed I have been very into period pieces lately- especially located in London.
This weekend I have nothing planned except to stay warm. It’s suppose to snow sometime in the next few days, so I will be staying indoors and away from the freezing temperatures. I think for my 3rd and 4th act of life I will live in a warmer city, perhaps down south. Anyway, I will be doing what I’ve been doing since the pandemic started- reading, working out, watching a movie, taking a walk (if weather permits), and enjoying another non-social weekend.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
