“When we surrender to the power of the universe, we receive miracles”
-Gabby Bernstein
Happy Friday! I have to admit, daylight savings really threw me for a loop this time around. It’s not that I am tired throughout the day, more so had the hardest time getting up in the morning. There were 3 days in a row where I have no recollection of accidentally turning off my alarm. I usually remember hitting snooze then waking up after the alarm goes off again. This time I somehow managed to turn it off and not wake up for another hour or so. Of course staying up to watch the Grammys and The Bachelor final did not help with the changing of my sleep schedule.
My week wasn’t as eventful nor social as the previous. I did, however, stop by the Geometric Properties exhibition at Artechouse last weekend. The exhibition was a cool experience but something I wouldn’t go back to. My reasoning is that it gave me a migraine. You sit in a large room that has moving lights and graphics; as if you are inside a lava lamp. The graphics, music, and lights constantly change. Some images were peaceful slow moving, while other images were fast past and striking. It was really cool to be surrounded by the graphics, but if you have light sensitivity and/or get motion sickness I say be cautious and know your boundaries. I lasted less than 10 minutes, while others were there for much longer. As I left I felt a little light headed. I figured the fresh air would be good for me, so I took a little walk around Chelsea. By the time I got home I felt much better. Unfortunately when I started to upload the images I took onto my IG stories it threw me. I felt nauseous and weak all over again. I couldn’t keep my eyes open as the light was too much to handle. I turned off the lights, put my PJ’s on and laid in bed to wait for my migraine to pass. I ended up taking an hour and half nap. I felt better once I woke up but still a little light headed. So I say be cautious when going, but over all it was a cool experience.
I am sickened by the shooting in Atlanta that happened this past week. As you may know now, there has been an increase in violence towards Asians this past year due to COVID. I understand we are all scared of contracting the virus and feel angry that our lives have been turned upside down, but I do not understand hurting someone random. How does this help you? How does this release the anger or fear you have? If you are feeling this way, talk to someone. Do not use violence. I can not fathom how someone can hurt another based on the color of their skin, who they love, or their religion. How much hurt do you have in your heart to do such a thing. I can not wrap my head around that thinking. Maybe that is a good thing. After so much tragedy and hardship we faced this past year, I think people would have more compassion for one another. We need to do better, be better than this. It really breaks my heart.
What I am watching: I haven’t started any new TV shows but I did watch a few movies that I enjoyed. I watched Yes Day on Netflix with Jennifer Garner. It’s a cute movie! A little cheesy but still enjoyable to watch. Last weekend I watched United States vs. Billie Holiday. I had no idea how terrible her life was. I knew “Strange Fruit” was controversial and I could make an educated guess that people tried to stop her from singing it. I didn’t, however, know the hardships of her life; her drug addiction, the abuse she took, her upbringing. It’s all so sad. Andra Day, who plays Billie Holiday, deserves all the awards.
Speaking of awards, did you watch the Grammys? I enjoyed it. I felt with the way they set things up gave more ample time for performances. Which I much prefer to watch. Thoroughly enjoyed Harry Styles opening the show. Harry really is a God’s gift to us all, what a gem! I was so happy Taylor Swift won best album of the year award. Folklore is so good!
What I bought: As I mentioned in yesterday’s blog post, to my surprise I do not own any Easter decor. I decided this was the year I started my Easter decor collection and bought these ceramic bunnies. I bought 2 of the medium size ones. I want to compliment them with decorative eggs and Easter grass and put them on my TV console. I am also thinking of getting a wreath but may wait until I move to another apartment or house. I also bought a bralette and a strapless bra from SKIMS. I usually lounge in a sports bra, but I want something that I can wear with regular clothing and still be comfortable. A bralette is the perfect solution. I already own a few strapless bras but they have the underwire in them. I, again, want something more comfortable to wear. There are a few throw on dresses that I wear in the summer that require a strapless bra and it’s annoying to wear an underwire bra all the time. This is my first time buying SKIMS but have only heard good things about the brand. I like that it’s more of a shape wear and sculpting brand, usually when you buy bras that do not have an underwire it can cause your chest to look unsupportive. I wasn’t sure what size to get because my measurements fall under x-small but I also have a larger cup size. I ended up getting the x-small because it matches their size guide, so we will see. I may have to return them for a small or medium.
This weekend I have nothing planned except to watch a little of March Madness – Go Bucks! – and enjoy the somewhat warmer weather we will have. This week has been cold and rainy, so I am looking forward to spring-like temperatures. I do need a new book to read so will stop by the bookstore at some point.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
