Happy Good Friday and Happy Easter! Well it’s a good Friday indeed because I FINALLY scheduled my first vaccine shot! It’s an Easter miracle. I have spent the past few days consistently refreshing every website imaginable trying to find an appointment. I thought it was a lost cause, that I would have to start going into Duane Reade to see if they have an extra dose. Then my friend Jared from Starbucks told me about TurboVax and less than 24 hours I got an appointment. I am over the moon happy. It finally feels like the end, the light out of the darkness.
April has already started off on a great note and will hopefully continue. This past week was filled with more exciting moments. My friend Krystal, from This Time Tomorrow, posted on her IG story that she stumbled upon the filming of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I quickly shot Krystal a message asking her where in the West Village they were filming and ran as fast I could to Abingdon Square. It’s been on my NYC bucket list to see Marvelous Mrs. Maisel being filmed. They had all these vintage cars parked around the square which was cool to see. And of course all of the extras being dressed up. I even got to see Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Midge, act. Unfortunately it started to pour down rain and they had to halt production. I don’t know for how long because I had to run back home to do work before my hair appointment. But those 15 minutes of seeing one of my favorite shows being filmed was worth being completely soaked. I was basically floating on air for the rest of the day I was so happy! My only regret was not seeing Amy Sherman-Palladino. There was one lady who I thought was her, looked like her. The lady had dark brown hair and a hat like Amy would wear. I can’t say that it was her as I am not 100% sure. Maybe it was her, I don’t know, I couldn’t get a clear look. I am also a huge fan of Gilmore Girls, so Amy is a legend in my book.
Besides my two Easter miracles, I also had a photoshoot this past week. We shot down in SOHO. I was a little hesitant as I think SOHO doesn’t look quite as good as it used to because of the riots. There is still a lot of graffiti and boarded up stores. However, over the weekend I scouted locations and decided that Lola Taverna and Ladurée were the perfect choices to compliment my outfits. I’ve been wanting to shoot in front of Lola Taverna as they have this really pretty floral design for their outdoor dinning. And you can never go wrong with the green Ladurée building. It turned out to be fated as my photographer Lauren texted me that she stumbled upon Lola Taverna and instantly knew it was the perfect location for me. It was moments before I was about to text her that the location was going to be Lola Taverna. Kismet.
Are you doing anything special for Easter? I decided to stay in NYC. I am going to miss being with my family to celebrate. Especially going to miss watching my nieces hunt for eggs. Instead I am going to watch a church service on TV while having waffles. Then at night I bought ham and vegetables to cook for dinner. I will FaceTime my family to wish them a happy Easter and enjoy the day. I may even have my own Easter egg hunt. My parents surprised me by sending me an Easter basket filled with chocolates, glitter plastic eggs, and a gift certificate to Starbucks. How cute are they?! My sister suggested that I get a little tipsy the night before and hide the eggs so Sunday morning I would have forgotten where I hid them. You are never too old for an Easter basket nor an Easter egg hunt in my opinion.
What I am watching: After the scandal rippled through the Bravo family, I decided to start watching Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. I only watch RHONY and RHOBH. I try to minimize watching reality tv shows that are filled with drama. However, once the news broke out that Jen Shah was arrested for fraud, well I had to watch. Not sure if I will continue to watch after this season though. I just want to see the drama unfold as apparently it is all caught on film. I do find it interesting to learn more about the Mormon church and culture. Also the family history of some of the cast members is fascinating. Heather and Whitney’s families were the pioneers that settled in SLC to start a town filled with Mormons. You get a little education and a drama filled show at the same time. I also started watching The Falcon and The Winter Solider. I am a fan of Marvel, so am really enjoying the new series.
What I bought: I wasn’t planning on buying anything this week, then J.Crew’s spring sale called out to me. It’s still going on FYI– up to 50% off spring picks. I ended up buying this short sleeve crewneck sweater in navy. I thought it would look cute with skirts this spring and on cool summer days. I also bought this baseball cap in natural. It’s technically from the men’s department but I liked it, so I bought it. I religiously wear my NY baseball cap that I got during a visit to the city when I was in middle school. However, I go running with it on and it does look worn out. I wanted a nice baseball cap to wear while I run errands or while sitting by the pool. I like that it’s plain and doesn’t have any design or a large logo.
This weekend, as mentioned, I will be celebrating Easter on my own. I have no other plans except to hopefully enjoy the nice weather. I will most likely walk around somewhere. I haven’t decided if I am going to watch the final four games. May watch a a little. However, this weekend on Varsity TV (Flosports on Apple TV) is the National Cheerleading and Dance Association college championships. This is like my super bowl!! I miss when it used to be on ESPN and it was easy to just turn on and watch. Will be worth it once I set up a subscription.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
