Happy Friday!! The cherry blossoms have bloomed in Central Park and I got my first vaccine shot. Life is good and the future is looking bright!
The only way you can get me to go to Times Square is broadway shows and vaccine shots. I got my first vaccine shot- pfizer- this past Wednesday and I am over the moon happy. It feels like a weight has been lifted. I got it at the Duane Reade in Times Square- not my first choice of location but I took what I could get. At least I didn’t have to travel outside of Manhattan. Getting the shot was quick and easy. I joked around with the woman who was giving me the shot. I even said “stick it to me” when she asked if I was ready. We had a good chuckle. Afterwards I did feel lightheaded and had muscle aches. Nothing that deterred me from going about my day. I still have a slight headache that comes and goes. I’ll take a mild headache for the vaccine shot any day.
Since I was already in Times Square I decided to walk around a little. It’s been a while since I have been up there. I wanted to see what the theatres looked like– mostly all were under construction. It’s smart that they are either fixing things or renovating when the theatres are shut down. I do miss going to broadway shows so much! I can not wait until I am sitting in a velvet chair watching people sing and dance on stage.
Other than doing my part for society, my week has been same old, same old. Actually I spent my week in combat. My new plant has unfortunately attracted an abnormal amount of flies. It’s not only disgusting, I’ve been high all week off of the fumes from the bug spray. I ended up throwing out my plant, which was pretty much dead anyway. I guess my time as a plant mom has come to an end. I just couldn’t take the bugs or live among the poisonous spray any longer. However, I did read that flies hate the smell of lavender, so I restocked my favorite aromatherapy mist that I spray on my bed at night. It’s a relaxing lavender spray, but I will use it to spray my entire apartment. I am also going to buy lavender candles to further my war against flies. Since throwing it out I haven’t had a single fly in my studio apartment. Knock on wood. *and now I can’t believe I just wrote an entire paragraph about flies… I need a social life.
Did you have a wonderful Easter? I enjoyed my day! I ordered pancakes from Butcher’s Daughter. I watched Joel Osteen and the St. Patrick’s Cathedral Easter special. Afterwards I went for a run/walk along the west side river path. I talked to my parents and they (including my sister) sent me videos of my nieces hunting for Easter eggs. At night I had traditional ham and carrots while watching the new Netflix’ documentary about Audrey Hepburn. The documentary was interesting. I didn’t know much about her life growing up. I knew she wanted to be a professional ballerina and that is how she got her start in acting. I didn’t know much about her family, however. I, like everyone else, have always admired Audrey Hepburn. I wish I had even a drop of elegance that she embodied.
Last night I watched the Lafayette 148’s interactive conversation of Unordinary Women. They had about 10 women talk about being entrepreneurs, mothers, women of color, women in business, etc. The only speaker I recognized beforehand was Christy Turlington. It was lovely to listen to these women speak about their lives, the paths they paved, and advice they give. I throughly enjoyed the conversation.
What I am watching: I haven’t started any new series but I am watching The Masters. Over the last 10 years I have been interested in golf more than I was growing up. I used to think golf was boring but now I find it entertaining. At the very least I find it soothing to watch and listen to. My dad watched golf and I never minded it, just wasn’t particularly interested as a kid. I have only played golf once in my life and I was not very good…. at all. I prefer to go to the driving range. The Chelsea Piers have a driving range that I’ve been wanting to go to but haven’t yet. I think it would be a fun date idea. Anyway, I am rooting for Jordan Spieth.
Fun fact: Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus grew up in my hometown of Upper Arlington, Ohio. Our mascot is the golden bear, which is his nickname. It’s pretty cool to see him still honoring UA with the colors he wears (black and gold) and the bear logo on his gear.
What I bought: I’ve been wanting a pair of white heels for the summer. Something simple and classic I can wear. I ended up buying these scalloped slide sandals. I was thinking about getting these slingback pumps instead, but eventually decided that I wanted sandals. The straps have a little bit of elastic connected to it, so they move with your feet as you walk. They do not come in half sizes so size up. I am normally a 7.5. I bought the size 8 and they fit. I would not be able to wear the size 7.
Sadden to hear the news of the passing of both Prince Philip and DMX. I am a Royal enthusiast and feel sadden for the family, especially the Queen. Although he did live a long, fulfilling life. DMX was very popular during my middle school and high school days. He was a great musician and was taken too soon.
This weekend it’s suppose to rain, which is such a bummer. The cherry blossoms have finally bloomed in Central Park and I wanted to go up there and check them out. Maybe I will still be able to. Otherwise it looks as if this weekend will be spent indoors.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
