About a month ago I went uptown to Central Park to see the cherry blossom trees. They were in full bloom and as lovely as ever. I walked along the reservoir, taking in the beauty that surrounded me. NYC may be a concrete jungle, but it does have its charm. Areas of nature that make you forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I seek solitude in these ambiances. There really isn’t a said place in New York where one can totally be alone and in silence. Moments like these help bring calm and peace of mind. A reminder that there is beauty among chaos.

I could spend hours in the park just sitting, taking in the atmosphere; basking in the sun and drowning out the world around me. It helps with my mental health. I need moments like this. It doesn’t matter if I am sunbathing in the summer, sitting on a bench reading a book, or taking a leisure walk. I crave the feel of grass, the lovely sight of cherry blossom trees, the beauty of flowers all around. It’s a reminder of hope, God, and that out of darkness comes light and growth.
