Social Media has its ups and downs. It can be overwhelming with negativity and sadness, but it can also be a source of creativity and inspiration. It’s a place where you can discover new brands, companies, or people where you can turn to to escape, get lost in its imagination. I always get excited when I discover a new IG account that makes me feel. And when that account is a fashion brand where you can shop beautiful garments, well I get even more excited to share with you all. The brand that stopped me with its beautiful imagery is the sustainable fashion brand Christy Dawn.
The other day while I was scrolling through Instagram a sponsored post from Christy Dawn popped up on my feed. Normally I ignore sponsored posts, but every once in a while one will catch my eye. I immediately took a screen shot of the post to remind myself to check out the website. Quickly I became in love with the bohemian, vintage style dresses. The type of dresses that you throw on for an easy-breezy summer look. Ones that you can wear daily and feel comfortable. But it wasn’t just the garments that caught my eye, it was the imagery. As if I too were frolicking in a field of daisies, having a picnic with friends, or napping in a hammock. It’s the romanticizing of a summer day.
A little history about Christy Dawn: The environmentally friendly brand was founded in 2014 by Christy Dawn in LA. Christy Dawn is committed to being a fully sustainable brand where their clothes are farm-to-closet. They use 100% organic cotton (using vegetable dyes) from Fibersheds in both LA and India, as well as deadstock fabrics. Deadstock fabrics are leftover fabrics from other fashion houses. Usually brands will either hold on to leftover fabrics to reuse or will send them to landfills. Christy Dawn will repurpose the fabrics before they are thrown away. Not only can you shop women’s sustainable clothes, but they also have a kid’s line for cute mommy and me looks. Here are some looks that I am currently eyeing for the summer.
