dress // ballet flats

One thing Carrie Bradshaw and I do not have in common is our choice for everyday footwear. While Carrie galavants all over the Upper East Side in 4 inch heels, I prefer sneakers and ballet flats. Do not get me wrong, I love a good pair of pumps to wear in the evening, even boots with a heel, but my heart belongs to the classic ballet flat.

Ballet flats are comfortable and stylish. I do not know who gave ballet flats a bad reputation, perhaps it was SATC. When I think of the beloved classic shoe I think of Audrey Hepburn in Ferragamo’s, Brigitte Bardot in Repetto, and of course Chanel’s iconic round-toe flats. While ballet flats have never gone out of style, it was Tory Burch’s Reva flats that brought it back to life back in the early 00’s. Nowadays, when comfort and leisure are the main trends, ballet flats remain a staple piece in our wardrobe. A pair of ballet flats that I have been coveting for a while now are these Arissa flats from Schutz. The are hard to come by as they sell out quickly once restock, and I can see why they are so loved. Once I got my hands on a pair (size down I usually wear a 7.5 but own a 7) I understood the hype. They are comfortable, classic, and go with any and all outfit choices. I can’t wait to wear my flats all over town this spring and summer season, and well into the fall. A ballet flat that even Carrie Bradshaw would wear.
