“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”

-1 Peter 1:3

Happy Friday and happy Easter! I realized the other day that this month marks 8 years I have been blogging. It’s crazy how fast time has gone by. I am grateful I get to create everyday, connect with people, and share my interests and experiences. I am happy where my blog is today and where it is going. Can’t wait to see what the next 8 years have in store!

This past week was filled with tragedy. Like many New Yorkers, the Brooklyn subway shooting is the biggest fear and nightmare come true. I am so glad everyone will be ok and that they caught the guy. Forever grateful for Zack! I learned about the shooting while on the subway early Tuesday morning heading home from Canal. My mom texted me asking if I happened to be in Brooklyn, then explained what happened. Although I was not in Brooklyn, being on the subway was not the best location to learn such a thing. My anxiety shot through the roof. I was scared. I have taken the subway since, but am a little on edge about it still. I think most people will be for the next week or so. It’s times like these that you make sure you hug your loved ones. It’s terrible that someone would hurt innocent people for no reason.

Tuesday afternoon, early evening, I went to get my hair done. My colorist switched companies and now works at the Tree House Social Club in the East Village. The Tree House Social Club is a new salon (opened in 2020) that also acts as an event space for artist. They have a huge back patio with a soon-to-be tiki bar to hang out in. The place is decorated in pinks, greens, and whites with hanging vines from the ceiling, art murals and more. I can’t wait to go back in the summertime and have a cocktail while I wait for my highlights to set.

It is the 2nd week of learning DanceBody’s new Q2 dances. So far my two favorite full-out dances are “Truffle Butter”, “Pony”, and “2 On.” I am still learning the dances and have been practicing them at home on DanceBody Live. They have breakdown videos of each dance. If you would like to try DanceBody Live (their online workouts) use code DBMAGGIE50 for 50% off your first month– usually $34.99 a month. Their classes include sculpt, standard (dance cardio), full-out (advance dance cardio), hip-hop, stability and strength (new!), pre/post natal, and dance cardio + sculpt. It really is a lot of fun and one of the best workouts I have ever done. It’s no secret how much I love DanceBody!

Last night I went uptown to the MCC Theater to see a new play called Which Way To The Stage. I am much more of a musical theater type of gal, but I really enjoyed this play. It was so funny and relatable. It’s about 2 best friends, Jeff and Judy, who are obsessed with Idina Menzel. They wait, almost daily, outside the back stage door of her broadway show hoping to get an autograph. Both Jeff and Judy are struggling actors in the city and we follow their journey over a course of a month or two as issues rise up within themselves and each other. What I loved was that both Jeff and Judy’s issues with themselves and each other are valid; neither one is wrong. It’s about insecurities that women face daily; comparing themselves to other women. And the struggles of being a feminine gay man, even in the theater world where there are little to no leading roles for them. The play runs until the end of May. I highly suggest going to it!! The actors are amazing and the storyline is so thought provoking while being fun and light-hearted.

What I am watching: A few weeks ago I started watching season 2 of The Home Edit on Netflix. I enjoy watching it on the weekends because it motivates me to organize and clean my apartment. I am almost finished with the new season and have really enjoyed watching these women organize other peoples homes. Although organizing people’s homes is more relatable, I do enjoy watching them organize and edit speciality areas like Kelsea Ballerini’s tour bus and Drew Barrymore show’s studio kitchen. It’s fun to see that side of celebrity life.

I watched all of The Masters last weekend and was so glad that Scottie Scheffler won! I very much enjoyed watching him celebrate afterwards with his family, especially with his wife Meredith. They were so cute together! If you are like me and wanted to find out where Meredith bought her cute floral dress– it’s from Borgo De Nor. You can also get the print in a different style here and here.

What I bought: Since the weather is warmer, I will be heading outside to go on runs. I am in desperate need of new running shorts and opted to get these high-waisted shorts in bluestone. They haven’t arrived yet, so cannot contest to the fit or coloring, but I’ve seen women wear them around the city and it seems like a great fit. I love how high up the waist line is. This way in the heat of summer I can go running in a crop top paired with these shorts and not feel like my stomach is hanging out.

This weekend I will be celebrating Easter here in the city. I will be attending church in the morning, then in the afternoon I am meeting up with friends in Central Park for a picnic. I am excited to be around friends, especially on this holiday. I was feeling a little homesick the other day. Besides celebrating Easter, I will be doing my usual weekend shenanigans; finishing my book, frolicking around the city, hopefully going on a run, and enjoying the spring weather.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
