“May today be one of those days where you see the light in the little things”

Happy Friday and happy Harry’s House day to all that celebrate!! Which should be everyone. I am currently listening through the album… again. My top favorites are “As It Was”, “Late Night Talking”, “Cinema”, “Daydreaming”, “Keep Driving”, and “Love Of My Life.”
Besides dancing around my apartment to Harry’s House, this past week was pretty quiet. I went to my usual DanceBody classes– Full Out and Sculpt. I shared one of the dances on IG Reels– it’s the Destiny’s Child dance. Lost of fun to do and to pretend you are Beyoncé. I had a hard time getting through sculpt yesterday. I quickly felt my body exhaust early in the class. I probably should have opted for yoga, but I never regret a workout. DanceBody’s sculpt is a great class! I know I am getting old because my ideal perfect weekend day is roaming around the book store, walk through the farmer’s market, and then head over to Bleecker street. If I have nothing planned on Saturday’s I usually go to the Greenmarket in Union Square. It can get a little too chaotic for my taste, but I do enjoy seeing what flowers are being offered. Before I walk through the market I will leisurely walk around Barnes and Nobles for a new book. Last weekend I bought Emily Henry’s Book Lovers. I am enjoying it so far! And on a whim I bought Signs: The Secret Language of the Universe by Laura Lynne Jackson. This book graced my social media feed back in 2019. I thought it looked interesting so I screenshot it and placed it in my “books to read” album on my phone. Then I completely forgot about it. That’s until I was walking through B&N and it randomly caught my eye in a pile of books. It’s the first time I have seen it at the book store, so I took it as a sign (pun intended) to purchase it. I believe in all of that spiritual stuff– how God sends us signs, even loved ones that have passed. I have even tested the theory a few times and sure enough I receive a sign each time. Laura Lynne Jackson is a medium that works with countless foundations, research centers, institutions, and scientific research.
What I am watching: Like most of America, I am tuning into the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard trial. I hate how easily I caved into watching. I was first against entertaining the trial as I am so sick of hearing about it. Their divorce has been all over social media for years. I also have never heard of Amber Heard until her divorce with Johnny Depp. I like Johnny Depp’s movies and I like him as an actor, but I am not a “stan”. So really the trial wasn’t of interest. Then my cousin and sister convinced me to watch and now I am hooked. Unfortunately. Going into the trial I thought that they were both equally abusive and toxic. Now I think Amber was the abusive one, but I don’t know yet whether it was reactionary or if she was the aggressor. I do not think Johnny Depp was an angel. It’s pretty evident he has anger and jealousy issues. And call me naive, but I can not see why anyone would risk lying under oath to protect Amber (meaning her friends and sister’s testimony). I love my friends and family, but I would never lie under oath for them. I am also a terrible liar and jail scares the living daylights out of me, so maybe that is why. A part of me really wants to believe Amber, because so many women (and men) go through domestic abuse and are often mistreated by outsiders when they do speak up. I know people have testified that they haven’t seen Johnny physically abuse Amber but most abuser’s do things in private. And vice versa if it is Amber hitting Johnny. But my sister brought up a good point that if Johnny Depp was the abuser why would he initiate the trial and make it public? I don’t know the answer. Twitter seems to be one-sided, and that is on Johnny Depp’s side. I guess I am also on Johnny Depp’s side because Amber Heard seems to be lying about things. I don’t know. The whole thing is sad and toxic, but for some reason watching it is gripping.
From one trial to the next, I started watching the Anatomy of a Scandal on Netflix. I am only on episode 2 but so far I am enjoying it. Please send me Sienna Miller’s entire wardrobe, it is so flawless. Especially her coat collection– perfection! I also like the actor playing the husband James, he was on Homeland. I highly suggest this show if you are looking for something new to watch. I believe there are only 6 episodes, so it is an easy binge.
What I bought: I bought this floral skirt to wear for spring and summer. It’s something that I can dress up or down. I also FINALLY bought the stripe tie-shoulder dress that I have been eyeing for MONTHS. It’s the perfect summer dress and something I am planning on wearing during the 4th of July. I know it’s pink, but whatever.
On the blog:
This weekend I am heading upstate to Hudson Valley. I will be going with a group through The Shaka Club for a day of hiking, beer, and pizza. I haven’t been to Hudson Valley before and it’s been on my NYC bucket list for a while. I am so excited to get out of the city, be in nature, and meet new people. Of course the ONE DAY I go hiking it’s going to be 94 degrees…. nevermind that it’s been in the 60s and raining for the past 2 weeks. Insert eye roll. It’s going to be a sweaty day but worth it.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
