“It will be a perfect unfolding”

-Abraham Hicks

Happy Friday! I am still in Columbus visiting my family. It’s been a great week celebrating the 4th of July, seeing friends, and being with my family.

Last weekend I was invited to my friend’s neighborhood block party. It was a lot of fun and so wonderful to see a few of my friends. Even more wonderful that I got to catch-up with people I haven’t seen in many years. The party had a huge slip ‘n slide, an inflatable water park, and other fun games for the kids. I joked and said that this was the wildest party I have been to in a while because the kids ran amok. Everyone had a great time and I loved being surrounded by old familiar faces.

The 4th of July was also a great day! We kicked off the festivities with the annual UA parade in the morning. I loved seeing all of the neighborhood floats. The theme this year was trailblazers; floats ranged from Nintendo to space shuttles to fire trucks. All really creative and well done! My favorite of the parade is always the reunion floats. The 4th is when everyone (in their respectable time period- every 5 years) has their high school reunion. Most of the class reunions will have a float. It’s always fun to see people you know and wave to them. After the parade my parents had a cookout with family and friends. Usually we would head to the park for the fireworks but we were too tired to go this year. Instead we watched the Macy’s 4th of July special from the comfort of our couch. I do not know how on earth I used to run around from early morning till very late in the evening… ah to be young again.

The rest of this week has been filled with family stuff; playing with my nieces, visiting my grandmother, brunch with my uncle and cousin. My parents and I have been going to the pool, walking around Park of Roses, dinners out around town, attended the Music in the Park series, and so on. Wednesday afternoon my dad and I went to see Elvis. Like most of America, we are big fans of Elvis. I grew up watching all of his movies (Blue Hawaii and Viva Las Vegas are my two favorites). Both my dad and I really enjoyed the movie and thought Austin Butler did a great job as Elvis! It does seem as if the story is about the Colonel rather than Elvis. I also thought they rushed through a few things, but there is so much to tell you would be watching a 5 hour movie. Overall I loved it and enjoyed seeing a more in-depth story about Elvis.

What I am watching: My parents and I started season 2 of Only Murders in the Building. We have seen all the new episodes and have really enjoyed each one. If you haven’t started the first season of Only Murders, I highly suggest watching it. It’s a funny show with a great who-done-it mystery. With Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez you can’t go wrong!

During the day we have been watching Wimbledon. It’s too bad that Nadal had to withdraw. I would have loved to have seen a Nadal vs. Djokovic match. Since I am not a fan of Kyrgios, I will be rooting for Djokovic in the finals!

What I bought: I bought a new book to read: Every Summer After. I am only 40 pages in but have been enjoying the story so far. Besides my book I bought  this dress (on sale and under $40) to wear around my apartment. I thought it would make a great throw on to wear, especially during the hot summer days.

What Books I Read This Past Spring Part 1

This Sunday I was originally suppose to be heading back to New York, but my ride (my cousin) has to stay in Columbus for another day. We are now planning on leaving Monday or Tuesday. Since I will be here an extra day or two I will be enjoying the hopefully nice weather by the pool, going on bike rides with my dad, and relaxing.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
