“I feel so intensely the delights of shutting oneself up in a little world of one’s own,
with pictures and music and everything beautiful.”
-Virginia Woolf
Happy Friday and happy Beyoncé Renaissance day! I’ve been listening to the album and so far my favorites are “Break My Soul”, “Summer Renaissance”, “Church Girl”, “Cuff It”, and “Virgo Groove”. Lots of solo dance parties happening here today in my apartment.
My computer is back! I really thought it was going to take a week to fix, but it only took 3 days. My speaker blew a few months ago and I kept putting it off to get fixed. There was always something with work where I needed my computer. I finally decided on Monday it was time as I didn’t have anything pressing to post this week, plus I was in the Hamptons. It was a quicker turnaround than I thought– it’s as if they knew I wanted to dance in my apartment to Beyoncé.
This past week I was in Amagansett for a short trip. I was there for the Hideaway Hamptons shopping event at the Reform Club. The event held some of the best women owned businesses: Dondolo, Sue Sartor, Pamela Munson, Byrdie Golf Social Wear, Berner and Co., Capitol, Cesoli Belts, Mignonne Gavigan, Katie Kime, Transparent Sunglasses, and Erin Donahue Tice. All of which I adore and love. You have probably seen me share, wear, and talk about almost all of these brands. It was so wonderful to finally meet the incredible women who founded them! I had the loveliest chat with Laura Vinroot Poole, founder of Capitol, and her team. We spoke for a very long time about everything! Capitol is based in Charlotte, NC and now I am itching to go there just so I can visit their store. I finally met Catalina Gonzalez Jorba, founder of Dondolo – based in Dallas. I have worked with Dondolo a few times (seen here) and adore their cute, feminine dresses. I pretty much had a wonderful chat with all of the founders and really enjoyed the day! I ended up buying placemats from Berner and Co. because I desperately needed some. They are currently not on the website but they are from Malaika Linens – bought them in sky blue. The rest of my trip to Amagansett was filled with browsing around Main St. and Amagansett Square, visiting Amber Waves farm, and more. It was overall a wonderful trip and felt so nice to get out of the city. Note to self: need to buy a house in the Hamptons….
What I am watching: Last weekend I watched The Gray Man on Netflix with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans. To be completely honest I had no idea what the movie was about prior to watching it, I just wanted see Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans together- ha! However, the movie was actually really good! I enjoyed it! It was funny, heartbreaking, tender, and had lots of great action scenes. Highly recommend!
I also started season 4 of Virgin River. I may be in the minority here, but I am not a fan of Jack. I don’t dislike him, but find him to be self-righteous and self-absorb – but this could be due to him being the main character. Besides my issues with Jack, I am enjoying the season and still love the small town feel!
What I bought: As mentioned I bought new placemats. The ones I currently own are old and been through the wringer. I feel like Monica Gellar with her new china at Thanksgiving; wanting everyone to be careful and slice their food away from the plates. I am nervous about using my placemats because they are so pretty, I do not want to spill and ruin them- ha! I am going to buy wicker chargers to act as a buffer between my pretty placemats and my messy self.
Last weekend I went shopping around Flatiron. I ended up buying this halter crop top and this matching skirt from J.Crew. They didn’t have my size in the skirt at the store, so I had to order it online. I tried on the top with this eyelet white skirt and really liked the look of it together (seen here). So we will see if I like the top with its matching skirt more or less than with a white skirt. Since I liked the white skirt, I ended up buying this one from Nordstrom. I may also buy the eyelet skirt from J.Crew just to compare which white skirt I like the best.
On The Blog:
This weekend I have nothing planned. I do want to grab drinks with friends for happy hour Saturday if weather permits and it’s not too hot. Other than that I will be doing my usual weekend rituals of runs along the West Side River Park, reading my book, frolicking around town, and watching Netflix.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
