“I think finding happiness within yourself is the only way to truly be free”
Happy Friday! It’s been a wonderful week celebrating my birthday with family and friends. Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes- I truly appreciate it!!
Last weekend my parents were in town to celebrate my birthday a few days early. They arrived Friday afternoon, where we then went to Milk Bar in NoMad to pick up my gluten free birthday cake. If you haven’t had one of Milk Bars birthday cakes you are really missing out… heavenly! After we picked up the cake we went to Greenwich to have dinner at American Bar. It was my first time at this newish restaurant and was not disappointed. The food was delicious and I loved the atmosphere.
Saturday my cousin Hannah took the train in from Jersey. We had lunch at one of my favorite brunch/lunch spots Maman. Afterwards we went to the Harry Potter store in Flatiron since she is a huge fan as well as I am. Afterwards we walked through Union Square then through Washington Sq Park. Since my cousin hasn’t been in the city that often I wanted to show her areas that are not completely overwhelmed with tourists and areas that I frequent. We walked through Greenwich and West Village when we decided to grab a drank somewhere– and to relax a little. I took them to Bandits – this newish 70 theme bar in WV. Unfortunately the bar was filled and we weren’t allowed to sit at a booth without ordering food so we left. We didn’t feel like walking around anymore, so we went to Blind Tiger and had a round of drinks. Afterwards we walked through the street festival on Bleecker– had our palms read. Mine said I was on the right path (and some other stuff that I will keep to myself) which was great to hear! We then went to Penn Station to drop off my cousin and went back to my apartment to rest until dinner. We wanted something casual to eat so we went to Grey Dog for burgers and fries. Then I made my parents…well my dad.. watch the new documentary about Princess Diana on HBOMax. It was a great weekend!
My actual birthday was not until the 24th. I started the day off with a massage that I got off of Groupon. It was a nice little treat for myself. Then I went on a long walk along the West Side River Park to get some fresh air and listen to music. The young folks are calling it a “hot girl walk” these days. I’ll take it. I mean someone did stop me on my walk to tell me that I have beautiful skin. It wasn’t creepy at all- it actually made my day! That night I was invited to the US Open kick off party at the Kimpton Hotel through IHG Hotels. I haven’t seen this type of event since pre-pandemic days. It was jammed packed! They definitely over invited, but it was still so much fun! They had a ping pong table where Andy Roddick and Amanda Anisimova played a quick match. Then DNCE closed out of the night with a short performance that was truly amazing. Joe Jonas is my favorite of the Jonas Brothers, so I was very excited! They played their regular songs as well as a few Jonas Brothers hits and some classics like Rod Stewart and Duran Duran. The performance was my favorite part of the entire evening! I was up close to the stage, dancing and singing along, having a blast! It was a great way to celebrate my birthday!
What I am watching: I started season 3 of Never Have I Ever. It’s a cute show! I loved that they haven’t veered off from its humor while also dealing with real life issues not only for Davi but for her mother, cousin, and her friends.
What I bought: My parents bought me a new pair of running shoes for my birthday. I got it in pink and white. I can only wear ASICS while I workout. They are the only brand of shoes that do not cause my plantar fasciitis to flare up. I haven’t worn them yet but will do so this weekend at DanceBody!
I bought myself this mulberry smock dress to wear this fall season. I love the ruffle cutwork design and coloring. This is a dress to wear to special occasions or casually around town with sneakers.
On The Blog:
This weekend I will probably take it easy. I can only party so much at my old age. As mentioned I will be going to my usually DanceBody class. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been, I am excited to dance! I also need to get a new book so will be spending time at the book store. Other than that most likely going for a run if it doesn’t rain, frolicking around the city, finishing off my birthday cake, and enjoying the weekend.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
