Happy Friday! Another eventful New York Fashion Week has come and go. Even if you were not part of the scene, NYFW is still a sight to see. I love people watching; seeing everyones amazing outfits frolic the streets of New York. To me, NYFW will always be one of my favorite weeks here in the city.
Although I love NYFW I scaled back on events and shows that I attended. Usually I have a jammed packed schedule, seeing any and all shows possible. But since the pandemic I have become a little more cautious with my time. A lot of bloggers are feeling this way– especially us older gals who have been in and around the scene for a while. This year I only requested to attend two show that I knew were a long shot in getting invites. I ended up not getting invited to either show, and that is ok! I did, however, get invited to Pamella Roland’s 20th Anniversary show and after party. I love attending Pamella Roland’s show- she creates the most stunningly beautiful gowns. For those unfamiliar with Pamella Roland, she creates high-end evening wear. Rachel Brosnahan recent dress at the Emmy’s was Pamella Roland.
Pamella Roland’s show was on Monday, but before I attended I went to Chela Tribeca for the Ceceli New york event. Ceceli New York is a new to me shoe brand. At the event they lined up seasonal shoes from boots to sandals to check out. Their style is fun and flirty, very downtown New York. I ended up getting these sandals with the detachable faux fur anklet. The event was fun and it was nice to run into some people who I haven’t seen since pre-pandemic.
After the event I went straight to the Pamella Roland show which was located in a warehouse on Varick street. The setup for the show was darling! Lots of flowers, park benches, and lamp posts as is we were in a park. I wore an old Alexis dress from 2017 (that I wore to NYFW back then) with my M.Gemi flats. See the outfit here on TikTok. Anyway, the show was amazing and the dresses were so beautiful – lots of sequins, rhinestones, feathers, all the embellishments that I love! After the show I stuck around for the celebration of Pamella Roland’s 20th Anniversary. They had a live band, open bar, and hors d’oeuvres. I, again, chatted with friends I haven’t seen in a while. The whole day was amazing and I was completely wiped out once I got home.
The rest of the week was more work than play. I have been working on my Amazon storefront most of the week. I have new categories up like fall decor, books, men’s fashion, skincare products and more. Today I am meeting with a new photographer Kate. I am still working with Lauren religiously, but Kate is a friend of mine who I haven’t seen in a long time and I wanted to meet up to shoot a few looks and catch up.
It’s no secret that I love wellness and all the woo-woo stuff that goes with it from crystals to manifestation to journaling and meditation. One of my life’s motto’s is to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday. Whether that is in business, how I act and handle myself in situations, how I treat myself and others, and how I take care of myself. I am always trying to improve and become a better version of me. So lately I have been getting into EFT tapping. I have heard about tapping for years (it dates back to the 70s) but never really thought much of it. I wasn’t sure what it was to be honest. Then I listened to the Almost 30 podcast episode with Gala Darling. She spoke about how tapping helped her recover from an eating disorder and other life hardships, also helps her manifest things into her life. They briefly mentioned Brad Yates on YouTube who is apparently the go-to guy for everyone. So I looked him up and started doing a few of his videos. I absolutely love doing it and it has helped me release some insecurities I carry with me as well as past hardships. I have seen an increase in business and revenue, as well as improved my dating life. It feels like magic but it is science-based. You tap on certain areas of your body to stimulate energies and your body’s nervous system. It is very much like acupuncture but without the needles. I suggest giving it a try.
What I am watching: I started watching Abbott Elementary. I have been wanting to watch it for a while now but haven’t gotten around to it. Since the Emmy’s it felt like the right time to dive into it. I absolutely love the show! It is darling. It’s a feel-good comedy much like Ted Lasso. I love how the teachers are always there for each other. It’s funny, cute, and heartbreaking knowing how accurate it is for low-income public schools. It’s absolutely sad that teachers can’t get the necessities they need to teach our children. And how children have to be subjected to low-par school environments with busted stalls and leaky roofs. We really need to put more money into our education system.
Another show that I started this past week is Devil in Ohio on Netflix. Going into it I wasn’t sure what it was about. I actually thought it was a documentary and not a scripted mini-series. And it’s set in Ohio. Anyway, it’s very interesting and I am enjoying the show so far. It’s about a battered girl who runs away from home. A psychologist is helping her acclimate to normal life (it is clear she isn’t used to normalities of life) and to help her be placed into a proper foster care home. However, weird incidents keep happening and Mae, herself, seems a bit off. It’s not scary (as of now) but it keeps you on your toes of what is going to happen next.
What I bought: Last weekend I stopped by the new Lele Sadoughi store on Bleecker. I was planning on only checking out the store but ended up buying this dusty rose velvet headband. I am excited to wear it this fall season.
Hill House Home launched their fall collection and I, of course, had to have another nap dress. This time, however, I changed things up a little and got the Louisa dress in traveling vine blue crepe color. In a few weeks I will be a panel speaker at the New England Coastal Creative conference (will be speaking about holiday gift guides and how to work with influencers) and I want to wear this dress for it. I also have my eye on the green jacquard Ellie nap dress. I think the pattern and coloring is beautiful.
On The Blog:
This weekend I have nothing planned. I’ll probably watch the Ohio State game if nothing else happens. Perhaps grab a drink with a friend. I’ll go on my usual weekend run. I want to take advantage of the nice weather we are having here. Other than my run and possible drinks, I’ll be here enjoying the weekend and letting the city take me wherever the wind blows.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
