“The day I decided that my life was magical, there was suddenly magic all around me.”

-Marabeth Quin

Happy Friday and happy Halloween! Are you dressing up for Halloween this year? I am not at the moment. I do keep cat ears, stored somewhere in my closet, in case I get invited to a last minute party. I like to be prepared. However, it’s safe to say I will be leaving the costumes to the kids and enjoying Halloween from afar.

Last weekend I hopped over to Jersey to visit two of my cousins who both happen to work for Rutgers. My other cousin Jon was flying into town for the weekend so we decided to make it a cousins reunion. Friday night we just had pizza and hung out at my cousin Hannah’s house. Saturday we went to the Rutgers vs. Indiana game. We didn’t stay long since none of us are fans of either team, but the game was still enjoyable. We left midway through the 3rd quarter to go have a late lunch at a sports bar somewhere. This way we could finish watching the game while also watching the end of the Ohio State game in the AC. We were tired of being in the sun.

That evening we were going to go out for dinner and drinks but as elder 30 and early 40 year olds do, we opted for another night in. My cousin Hannah and I watched the new Brad Pitt movie Bullet Train. Surprising pretty good– and has some hilarious moments! Sunday we met for brunch before they dropped me off at the train station. It was so great to be around family and to catch up with my cousins. I haven’t seen them since the 4th of July. It was a wonderful weekend overall!

Tuesday evening I went uptown to my friend Christy’s for cocktails and good company. Christy always throws the best get togethers, as she is a wonderful hostess. I met some lovely people and was able to catch up with others that I haven’t seen in a while. It was the best evening and I felt so grateful to be amongst friends and to make new friends.

The rest of my week was spent listening to Taylor Swift’s Midnights. I can’t stop listening, it’s so good! I love every song!

What I am watching: When I got home from Jersey it was raining here in New York so I decided to binge watch the entire series of The Watcher on Netflix. I enjoyed trying to figure out who wrote the letters. But I begged the question- Is The Watcher creepy or is the music just ominous? Yes of course getting the letters was creepy and I personally would have moved out the second I received them. There are definitely other creepy moments, especially towards the end. However, there were a lot of moments that were not creepy at all yet they made it seem like it was. For instance (and this isn’t a spoiler because it means nothing to the plot) when the neighbor gave the recipe for the casserole, the music was so ominous I had to laugh because nothing happened. It’s not creepy for someone to give a recipe. Overall I did enjoy the series and thought it kept me on my toes of what’s going to happen next.

What I bought: I didn’t buy anything new this past week but I am starting my search for something to wear to my cousin’s wedding in December. I am currently looking at this classic midi dress, but want to keep browsing.

This weekend I am going to the American Ballet Theatre’s The Dream. Part of their fall season, The Dream is an ode to Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. Other than that I will be watching the Ohio State game, hopefully finishing my book, and frolicking around the city looking at people’s Halloween decorations.

Have a wonderful and spooky weekend xo
