Happy Friday! And happy Taylor Swift Lavender Haze music video release day to those of us who celebrate! I think the music video is well-done; feels very dreamy and mystical. I do not understand the floating fish, but I am sure Swifties on TikTok will investigate and break down the symbolism for me. I think lavender is going to become a big color trend now; lavender eye shadow, clothing, accessories, home decor, etc.
This past week was all about checking off items from my to-do list. Now that I know J.Crew has partnered with ThredUp for the J.Crew Always program, I did a little closet purge. I also sent items to The Real Real and have items ready to be dropped off at Goodwill. It feels good to declutter.
I met with my photographer Lauren this past Tuesday in Soho to shoot a few looks. It was miserable….The wind was awful. My hair does not look like Cindy Crawford in the wind, it looks like it is barely hanging on. It was a little difficult to shoot I must admit. I had to hide behind a pillar to wait for the wind to calm down; once it did I jumped out and took as many photos as possible before the next gust of wind. Blogging isn’t always glamorous, ha!
This morning I went to a Pilates reformer class, Body Evolution in Union Square. I haven’t been to pilates since before the pandemic. I really wanted to do something new this week in terms of a workout. I noticed I haven’t been motivated to workout lately, so I needed to change things up. I do do mat Pilates at home through Obé every once in a while, but I wanted to do the reformer. It felt great to be back, and quit hard I must say! My legs were shaking by the end of it.
What I am watching: I binged watched The Traitors on Peacock. I loved it- couldn’t get enough! I had seen people tweet about it, then my sister mentioned she watched and enjoyed it. So I gave it a go and couldn’t stop watching. I am not going to give anything away, but I was a little emotional and conflicted about the ending. I am also glad that they told us who the traitors were to begin with. It was fun to see them plotting. It makes for better dramatics and I loved it. Alan Cumming was the perfect host– I mean who doesn’t love Alan Cumming? Anyway, not only did he do a good job as the host, but his outfits were amazing! I couldn’t wait to see what he was going to wear next. The whole thing is really interesting and I am sure you can do a deep dive into the psychology of the game and human behavior. I am sure there is a lot of layers to this, which is why it’s so good!
I also watched That 90’s Show. I went into it skeptical because reboots and spinoffs usually do not match up to the original (*cough* Gossip Girl). I enjoyed That 90’s Show a lot! It still had the silliness and fun of That 70’s Show while also being its own. Of course the original is better, but I think this spinoff is good. It does help that Kitty is my favorite character from the original, and now the spinoff. I love the 90’s nostalgia the most; the clothes, the music, pop-culture (I loved the 90210 day dreams with Brian Austin Green!). You didn’t have cellphones or social media, you had the entire summer to just roam around with your friends. I also enjoyed the cameos of the original cast. A part of me wanted more, but also understand that they want this show to stand on its own. If you are looking for something lighthearted to watch, I suggest this!
What I bought: I had to buy a new pair of my Nike ankle socks. One sock got lost while doing laundry….ugh. It’s a great sock to wear during the winter. I tuck my leggings in them to keep warm while running to the grocery store. And they are the perfect size to wear with ankle boots.
I also bought a new book, The Mitford Affair. It has everything I love about historical fiction: scandalous socialites and historical events. The book is about the real life Mitford sisters during the 1930’s in Great Britain. The aristocratic sisters were infamous back in the day due to (a few of) their political ideologies of fascism and support of Hitler. Nancy, the eldest Mitford sister, wrote the famous classic book The Pursuit of Love. The Mitford Affair is really good and I am learning a lot about historical events that I didn’t know before– mostly about Great Britain’s politics. But I will say reading it is like knowing a train wreck is about to happen (WWII) and you can’t do anything about it. You know they are on the wrong side of history. And it is uncomfortable to read about their adoration for that awful man– so just a trigger warning.

LTK Spotlight: Vacation Dresses
This weekend I have nothing planned. I am debating on whether I want to go to South Street Seaport to see the new Tin Building by Jean-Georges or go to the Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama pop-up in Meatpacking. Perhaps I will do both. Or neither. Perhaps something else will pop-up on my radar. We will see!
