Now that we are officially in the winter season, it’s time to share what books I read this past fall. I wanted to start off with the two most heavy storylines. Both both are the bonds between two people who are and have suffered through traumatic experiences. They help heal each other through love, patience, and understanding. Both are one of a kind love stories where you root for fate to be on their side. I tore through each story, each scene of each book.

Archer’s Voice

After witnessing and surviving the most tragic moment of her life, Bree decides to leave her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. After 6 months of nightmares, constant reminders of that moment Bree needs the escapism of the small town of Pelion, Maine. A place where she can start fresh and take back her life. That is until she meets Archer Hale. The quiet man in town, the outcast. When Bree decides to trespass on Archer’s property, her life is forever changed once more. Archer’s Voice is about healing from trauma and allowing people into your life. To open yourself up and not push people out. Let people help you grieve and grow. I give this a 4.5/5 stars.

Review

I enjoyed this book a lot and there were many times I couldn’t put it down. I love how Archer and Bree helped each other work through their trauma. I thought both backstories were interesting. I enjoyed how the small town welcomed Bree into their lives and became like family to her. However there were a few things I couldn’t quit grasp. For instance, how there wasn’t a single person in Pelion who knew sign language. Even for a small town I would assume someone else was deaf or at least knew sign language. I get that is part of the appeal of Bree for him, so for the story it fits. I also thought Archer saying he would die if Bree ever left him was toxic. Other then that I thought it was a beautiful love story.

It Starts With Us

*If you haven’t read It Ends With Us then skip this synopsis.

Lily and Ryle have settled into a nice routine of co-parenting. When one day Lily runs into Atlas on the street. It’s been almost a year since they last saw each other and it seems timing is finally on their side. When Atlas finally ask Lily on a date, she must deal with moving on with her life while navigating her jealous, abusive ex-husband. This time we see more of Atlas’s point of view as well as his background. It Starts With Us is about a second chance at true love, living life for yourself, forgiving those who have wronged you, and allowing yourself to be happy. I give this a 5/5 stars.

Review

I couldn’t put this down! I thought it was just as good as the first book. I loved getting know Atlas story– and I am glad Colleen Hoover decided to make the second book more about Atlas. It gave a fresh perspective on the story. It continued the storyline while bringing in a more rounded picture of who the characters were and what they meant to each other. I did think Ryle was going to be more of a problem than he really was, but it is good he wasn’t. Lily and Atlas is another beautiful love story that made me swoon the entire time. Two people coming together and helping each other heal. I really hope they make this into a movie someday!
