“Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time; for that’s the stuff life is made of.”

-Benjamin Franklin

Happy Friday! Love is in the air as Valentine’s Day is around the corner. I have to say I am disappointed in the lack of Valentine’s Day decorations I have seen in the city. I haven’t been all over Manhattan but the areas I have frolicked around, there does not seem to be that many. I am surprised to be honest, I expected more — especially out of West Village.

Did you watch the Grammys? I thought it was a good show- lots of fun! The 50 years of Hip Hop tribute was incredible. The best part. I loved every second of it. I also really enjoyed Bad Bunny’s performance. I apologize for sleeping on him until now. I’ve been dancing around my apartment all week to Después de la Playa. So good and so much fun. I also discovered jazz singer Samara Joy through her winning best new artist. I’ve been enjoying her music as well. She reminds me of Etta James… and I LOVE Etta James.

Something out of the ordinary happened to me this past week. I got a DM on Instagram from a matchmaker saying she wanted to set me up on a date with someone. I am ready to settle down and am very open to meeting someone in any way. So I wrote back and said that I was interested in potentially going on a date with this guy. We set up a zoom call (between me and the matchmaker) where we chatted a little about who I am; my likes, interests, and what I am looking for in a partner. We did this to see if in fact I am aligned with what this guy is looking for. If not, I am now in their system for potentially meeting other clients of theirs. My attitude in dating nowadays is to be open to possibilities. Anything can happen. And if it works out, that’s amazing. If it doesn’t work out, that is fine too. I move on and move forward. I could meet someone through dating apps, through this matchmaking company, through friends, out at night or even at the bookstore. Anything is possible.

What I am watching: My sister recommended the new Appletv show Shrinking with Jason Segel and Harrison Ford. It just premiered and there is only 3 episodes out so far. It is such a good show! It’s a little like Ted Lasso with a feel-good feel to it. There are a lot of humorous parts and touching moments. However, it also deals with grief so it can be a little heavy. I think it’s fantastic and could see it winning awards.

I also watched the Pamela Anderson documentary on Netflix called Pamela, a Love Story. I thought it was so good. I obviously know Pamela Anderson, but I really do not know much about her life besides what is in the media. I really enjoyed seeing a more personal side to her. I have a lot of respect for her as well. She left Tommy Lee right after the first domestic incident. That takes a lot of courage and strength. To add onto that, she is now using her image and being the “butt of the joke” for PETA. I give her a lot of credit on surviving everything she has gone through. Highly recommend this documentary. Also the way we (society) treated women back in the 90’s and early 00’s is truly disgusting. I hope we have progressed, but time will tell.

What I bought: I had to get a new cleanser and bought my favorite one from Beautycounter. I have sensitive skin and a little bit of combination. This cleanser has been my go-to for years now. It doesn’t irritate my skin or dry it out. Next I bought a new book; The Spanish Love Deception. I thought it was the perfect rom-com, cheesy book I needed for Valentine’s Day. I also bought faux flowers for my bathroom.

This weekend I have a lot going on. I am attending Alice + Olivia NYFW presentation early Saturday evening. This will be my first time seeing Alice + Olivia during fashion week, so I am very excited. I am also going to head to Home Depot to start a DIY product– I want to paint my floor length mirror and possibly stencil flowers on it. My biggest obstacle will be getting this heavy mirror off the wall and onto the floor in an open space in my studio apartment. It may come crashing down on me. We will just have to pray for a safe outcome, ha. Other than that I will be enjoying the weekend as usual; frolicking around, reading, working out. And of course, watching Rihanna’s Super Bowl concert.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
