“There is purpose in your season of waiting”

-Megan Smalley

Happy Friday! I’ve been thinking a lot lately about where my life is at the moment. I am trying to let things be as they are and not try to control or force anything. It’s hard being in the season of waiting. When will I meet my person? When will the next level of my business happen? When will I have children? Somedays it ways heavy on my mind. I tear up if I see a couple holding hands or hear the laughter of a baby. I feel down if a collaboration doesn’t work out or my content isn’t performing well. But life is filled with ups and downs.

Lately I have been killing it with affiliate revenue– thank you so much for that! I am happy most days and take pleasure in the little things. I fully and deeply love myself, my family, friends, and those around me. So maybe I am not in a season of waiting. Maybe what I want I already have. That maybe, each day, I am one step closer to having what I dream about. I am now playing the “what if” game. What if it works out this time with a guy I am talking to. What if this time I get an amazing brand deal. What if it is finally my time. Because why not me? If it is happening to others it can happen to me. So instead of getting frustrated in the waiting season, I am changing my mindset. Reminding myself that life is full of possibilities and surprises. I do not know what waits for me today, tomorrow, or next week.

Last weekend I walked around West Village and stumbled upon a new to me home decor store called John Derian. It almost looks like an antique store; eclectic dishes, rugs, decorative objects, accessories, artwork, and more. I almost went home with this floral ceramic pitcher that was very pretty. There are a few locations around the city, but I went to the one on Christopher St.

As I do almost every week, I went to DanceBody this past Tuesday. I pretty much have the dances down, just need to get my body and mind better aquatinted with what movement comes next. I still mess up sequences, but I will get there soon. They introduced a “new” dance. It’s an old Britney dance we did a few years ago. I know it, just need a refresher. DanceBody is celebrating their 10 year anniversary and I am so happy for them! I’ve been attending DanceBody for the past 10 years and it’s amazing how much they have grown. Katia started with renting a room at a local dance studio in Tribeca to now owning two studios of her own with jammed packed classes. So proud of her and the team!!

I had to get a new primary doctor as the one I have been seeing for the past 6 years decided to no longer carry my insurance…. insert eye roll. I actually really like my new doctor. She told me I was young and very skinny– 5 stars across the board! I didn’t need to hear anything else. All jokes aside, I did like her and I have a clean bill of health. Two thumbs up! It’s just annoying to have to go through the song and dance of reciting my medical history and my family’s history.

What I am watching: I started Jury Duty with James Marsden. I LOVE James Marsden and will watch him in anything. It’s about a group of people selected to do jury duty in LA. Everyone is an actor except one juror. Crazy things keep happening, the other jurors are a bit bizarre, and Ronald thinks it’s completely real. He also thinks they are doing a documentary about the case, since there are cameras and they do confessionals. It is pretty funny but I can see it not being for everyone. For me it took about 2 or 3 episodes to really get into it.

I also started watching The Diplomat on Netflix with Keri Russell. I do like it but it’s also not something I am binge watching. I can easily not watch it for a few days before the next episode. I am only 3 episodes in and am still trying to figure out who is who. So I am still trying to gather what is going on and who is involved. I like the witty banter between Kerri and her husband. Her husband is pretty funny but also a little annoying. I do not know if I fully trust him. My dad read somewhere that the show is a mix between The West Wing and Grey’s Anatomy. I do not know who wrote that, but I do not see how it is even close to being like Grey’s. The article said it’s about who is sleeping with who, and 3 episodes in there is no indication of that type of show. Or at least the focal point. It reminds me more of Madam Secretary.

What I bought: I went on a little shopping spree this week. First I bought this floral slip dress to wear during the hot days of summer. I ended up buying the size 2 and 4 to compare. The website said if you are between sizes to size up. I am usually not between sizes in general, but with Reformation I do tend to go up a size. So we will see! I bought both at the same time because it looks like this dress is selling out fast!

Next I bought this navy shift dress- size small. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to get it in white or the navy, but ended up with the navy. I have a ton of mini white dresses. This shift dress is truly timeless and one I will be grabbing to wear on the weekends. I also bought these high-rise shorts in cashew— currently on sale! I like the long length of the shorts. Bought them in a size 2. Next I bought these linen shorts in frozen lake to lounge around in– size small. Also currently on sale and under $100.

And the most important thing I bought this past week are tickets for the American Ballet Theatre’s Summer Season!! It’s my favorite time of the year. I am SO excited to sit in the Met Opera House and watch a beautiful ballet being performed. This year ABT is doing 3 of my favorite ballets; Giselle, Swan Lake, and Romeo and Juliet. I am also going to ABT’s Gala for the premiere of Like Water for Chocolate. AH! I can NOT wait!!

This weekend I have nothing planned. Based on the weather report it looks like it will be a rainy weekend, which is a bummer. Maybe I will spend it curled up on the couch reading. Hopefully I will be able to get out and about at some point; go shopping, see a movie, buy flowers. Enjoy life as it is.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
