smock dress // straw handbag c/o // white slide sandals // clear sunglasses
When browsing J.Crew’s new arrivals I stumbled upon this smock midi dress. It reminds me of something Brigitte Bardot would wear while sitting in a café in France. It’s a dress that transports me to a life of leisure. Days spent aimlessly strolling through the Farmer’s Market buying flowers, baguettes, and fruit. Or perhaps a lazy Sunday afternoon in the park reading a book. It’s an easy, breezy dress to throw on and still look trés chic.

This blue smock dress is one you can dress up with heels or wear casually with a pair of sneakers. I am currently planning on wearing it over Memorial Day Weekend to either my parent’s cookout or if I meet up with friends for brunch. It’s also a great dress to wear during whatever 4th of July celebration you may have this year. It may become my parade dress. I usually wear something casual to the parade and then change into something nicer for the many cookouts happening around town and to the fireworks.
What I love about this dress is the little bow detailing in the front and how it’s only smocked at the waist. The linen fabric makes it the epitome of summer, creating the overall aesthetics of this dress. This dress also comes in white. I am usually a sucker for white dresses in the summer, but I loved the chambray coloring of this one. I am wearing a size x-small for reference. I could wear my normal size small and be ok, but I thought the x-small fit better. I would perhaps start with your normal size and then go from there. For me, sizing down fit the best. Here are some more blue smock dresses to wear this summer season.
