“Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder”
-E.B. White
Happy Friday! I am back in NYC after a wonderful week in Ohio with my family. It was nice to get away from the city and spend time with loved ones.
Last weekend was my niece’s dance recital. She performed both a tap and ballet dance. I was so proud of her!! She did an incredible job; knew the steps, knew her positions and transitions. I love my little tiny dancer! As mentioned last week, she goes to the same dance studio that my sister and I grew up going to. It was nice to be at the recital and see a few of my old dance teachers.
The rest of my week was spent either hanging out with my nieces, spending time with my parents, and visiting my grandmother. My grandmother is 100 years old, so I want to spend as much time with her as possible. She is currently living in an assisted living facility. My mom and I take usually taker her for a walk (her in a wheelchair) around the building so she can get fresh air. Then we have lunch with her at the dining hall. I have to say for a 100 year old she is doing amazing. She is healthy, can do most things herself, her skin looks great, and she is quick witted. Of course she still has her issues, and is slowly regressing, but I am very grateful she is still around.
I chopped my hair! I took almost 4 inches off and I am loving my short hair. I used to have short hair throughout college and most of my 20s. I like having long hair but it was time for a change. It was also time to get rid of the damaged ends. I have thin hair, so the longer it gets the more strained it becomes. This cut and color has liven my hair.
My parents and I went to the Memorial Golf Tournament Wednesday morning. It was the PRO AM event, not the actual tournament itself. Each year they do a kick-off round with celebrities. The golf professional only do 9 holes while the celebrities do 18 holes. This year the celebs were Josh Duhamel, Peyton Manning, Stephen Curry (along with his dad and brother Seth), Chris O’Donnell, and Luke Bryan. There were more celebs and amateurs but I didn’t recognize any of the names. I was mostly excited to see Josh Duhamel….he waved to me. I didn’t get to see my favorite golf professionals play, but still saw them on the practice putting lawn. The entire morning was fun. I have never been to the PRO AM before, usually we go to the tournament. It was a fun experience!
What I am watching: I haven’t started any new shows, but a few of my favorites have sadly ended. I loved the final episode of Succession. *spoilers* I had hoped for a more united front amongst the siblings at the end, but true to form it wasn’t the case. The scene in the kitchen, however, was lovely to see. How playful they were to each other, getting along. It was a nice change. I don’t know if their relationship can be repaired after this, but I like to think it can be. I always thought Kendall was the best suited for the CEO position. He has grown a lot during the years personally and professionally. I thought the way he stepped up at the funeral was the perfect example. But I always knew this would end with Waystar being sold. It was the only way to conclude the series. Otherwise you could continue on because you know the siblings would backstab each other over business. This way they can all do their own thing and succeed. I was shocked that Tom became CEO but he does know the company. And like Shiv said, he is a puppet. I thought the ending was poetic and well done.
Next I watched the final episode of Ted Lasso. *spoilers* I thought it was also well done! It was perfect how they wrapped up everyones storyline. No notes. My favorite part of the episode was when the team performed So Long, Farewell. It was amazing!! I know people are upset that Ted and Rebecca didn’t end up together… but like have you not been paying attention? It has been blatantly obvious since the beginning Ted would end up moving back home and that he was going to get back together with his ex-wife. I am glad he and Rebecca never had a fling. They are not compatible and it’s nice to see a platonic friendship amongst a man and a woman. They are best friends, nothing more to it. If they had had intimate relations then it would have ruined their friendship. I am glad they never crossed that line. I am also glad Keeley chose herself. She has always been in the shadows of her relationships; depending on them, guiding them, tailoring to their needs and wants. This is her time to shine on her own. But I am still team Roy. The ending was bitter sweet. I am really going to miss Ted Lasso. We need more feel-good shows.
What I bought: I am starting a new book; Happy Place by Emily Henry. I love all of Emily Henry’s books and can’t wait to dive into this one. I have been hearing great things about it. Emily Henry writes the best summer books so I know this one will be good. Other than my book I did not buy anything else. I am, however, currently shopping for new sandals. I realized I no longer own flat sandals. Mostly because I live in New York and there is no place to wear flat sandals. I mostly stick to sneakers or ballet flats during the day and heels at night. Anyway, I am looking at Hermés dupes like these slides— currently on sale and under $70. I can’t decide if I want them in white or cognac. I am also looking at these braided strap sandals in beige– under $40.

This weekend I have nothing planned. I do have some work to catch up on since I sorta took a break this past week. I want to go running at some point, if it doesn’t rain. I will also dive into my book, clean my apartment, frolic around town, and enjoy summer in the city.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
