As a little girl I always thought of the spring season as being the only time you could get married. My parents got married in June. Seven Brides For Seven Brothers sang a song about being a bride for life if you marry in June. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized weddings happen year-round. Each season is unique in its own beauty for such a special occasion. Both my sister and my cousin had winter weddings. I have had friends get married in the summer and the fall season.
Throughout all of the weddings I have attended for each season, I found that dressing for fall and winter can be the trickiest. With most of the wedding world catering to spring and summer weddings, fall wedding guest dresses can be a little difficult to find. Should you go for darker colors even though it’s still warm out? Should you wear heavier material or can you still get away with a light cotton? When is it appropriate for sequins? Answer: you can wear sequins year-round.
For my personal wedding guest attire etiquette, I believe that throughout September and some of October you can get away with light colored dresses. This floral light blue maxi dress one is perfect to wear to a wedding this summer and into the early fall.

This light blue puff sleeve maxi dress can be worn to any and all special occasions. With it’s beautiful floral print, this is a dress that made me want to twirl around the dance floor. To find a gala to attend or invite myself to someone’s wedding (I kid). It has a smock backing of the bodice for stretch and comfort. For size reference I am wearing an x-small– so size down.
This dress doesn’t have to be so formal. I have seen on Instagram it worn during outdoor dinner parties, fun events, and more. But that isn’t what we are chatting about, we are talking fall wedding guest attire. I have gathered below a few chic formal dresses to wear to a fall wedding this year.
