Happy Friday! It’s a week of celebration as yesterday was my birthday! Thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes!

Turning another year older is a little bittersweet. It’s still hard to wrap my head around my age. Where did the time go? But at the same time I welcome the change within myself and my life. I am still young and hopefully have a lot of life ahead of me. I am not where I thought I would be at 38. Growing up I’d assume I would be married with kids living in Ohio at this age. Instead I am living in New York and have a career that I love. I still want the husband and kids, and someday it will happen for me, but I have learned to appreciate what I have now. To be in the now– at least trying to. You never know what is around the corner and I choose to believe that the best is yet to come. So I welcome this new age with new possibilities, new people, new changes, and growth within myself.

To celebrate my birthday I wanted to do things that bring me joy. I didn’t want a party or any sort of celebration. I thought it was a little silly to celebrate 38. I’ll wait until I turn 40 to have a hoopla. So instead I spent quiet time by myself. You never know, it may be my last birthday spent alone and I wanted to appreciate this season of my life. Since it was raining for most of the day, all of my self-care leisure was spent at home. I read, danced, listened to music, bought myself flowers, shopped online, did an at-home spa, made waffles, order my favorite take-out food, and painted my console. It’s the little things in life. That is what I wanted to celebrate; the little things that bring me joy. And it was lovely.

I finally painted my tv console. Like my mirror, I was tired of looking at the black coloring. I wanted something more cheerful. Since I had a lot of green paint left over from painting my mirror, I decided to use it for my console. I am loving the green color and can’t wait to see it displayed with all of my decor. It still needs a touch up, which I will be doing today, but it should be ready by tonight or tomorrow.

The only none birthday thing I did this week was go to my usual DanceBody class. We are nearing the 3rd month of the quarter which means they switched up some of the songs. For the last month of each quarter they switch out a few songs, but the dance is the same. It adds another layer of challenge. It also keeps us on our toes as we now have to try and navigate the difficulty of remembering the steps. Sometimes this is hard for me to do as I use music to cue my movements. But I welcome the challenge, tapping into my muscle memory. I also welcome the change because sometimes the song that is chosen is shorter, haha.

What I am watching: Last weekend I watched the Netflix comedy special 37 and Single with comedian Jared Freid. Jared is an up and coming New York comedian. I know him through his Bachelor podcast called The Betchelor — from the media empire Betches. I love listening to Jared and Kay’s hot takes on the newest episode of Bachelor. Anyway, you have to watch the comedy special because I was crying laughing. It is so relatable and Jared is hilarious!

What I bought: I was in desperate need of replacing my white sneakers from Tretorn. Since I wear mine all of the time, the sole of the shoe was really worn down and ripped.

This weekend my parents will be in town to celebrate my birthday. We are going to see the Broadway musical Some Like It Hot. I am so excited to see it! I saw the cast perform during the Tony Awards and it looks amazing! Other than the show we are going to the Intrepid Museum. It’s really the only museum my parents haven’t been to yet. The last and only time I have been there was for the Men In Black lll premiere party in 2012. It should be interesting- I enjoy learning. We are also going to go out to dinner to celebrate as well.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
