Happy Friday and happy Halloween! Are you doing anything spooky fun to celebrate? I am not much of a Halloween person. I do not mind it, just not my favorite holiday. Less Friday The 13th and more of a Practical Magic/ Hocus Pocus type Halloween gal. I haven’t dressed up in a few years. If I were to dress up this year I would probably be either Barbie or Taylor Swift. I kind of like the idea of walking around town saying “Hi Barbie” to others.
Well my week didn’t start off pleasant. Sunday night I couldn’t sleep at all. I think I got about 2 hours of sleep, if that. I kept tossing and turning with a wonderful appearance from anxiety. Good times. You can imagine how tired I was on Monday. I was so physically and emotionally tired I broke down on the phone with my parents. Sometimes it’s nice to just cry. I think I needed the release. Life isn’t always fun events and perfectly-pleasing Instagram posts. I have hard days, hard moments, and stress. I was overly stressed. My dad suggested I take the rest of the day off and go for a walk. So that is what I did. I went for a walk, got some fresh air. Then came back to my apartment, did a little yoga and read. It was a nice little reset. Sometimes you just have to take a break, walk away, and regroup.
The rest of my week was upwards and onwards. I went to my usual DanceBody class which always makes me feel so much better. We learned another new dance to The Pussycat Dolls song “Don’t Cha”. Which is an old favorite of mine. I am getting familiar with the new dances, but I can’t say any of them are perfected or fully memorized. I haven’t had much time to do the breakdown videos at home, but hoping to do so this weekend.
The only other exciting thing I did this past week was get my nails done at Glosslab. I originally wanted to get a dark red color for the fall, but went with classic red instead. I am skipping over the fall and heading straight into the holidays. If you want to try Glosslab- get 20% off your mani and pedi or their monthly membership with code: MAGGIE20.
Honestly I spent most of my week listening to Britney Spears new book The Woman in Me on audio. I am loving Michelle Williams narrative talents… “fo shiz fo shiz..” I was laughing so hard! The book is incredible and I am so glad Britney is able to tell her side of the story. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking. Her family really is awful. I can’t imagine treating my child or my sister that way. My heart goes out to Britney and hope she knows how much she is loved by her fans. For me and basically every millennial woman, Britney meant so much to us as young teenagers. I will always root for Britney Spears.
What I am watching: I am not a fan of horror movies or shows, but there is something about Mike Flanagan’s series on Netflix that I love. Each series is so well written and intriguing. I am about to finish The Fall of the House of Usher. I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily scary, it’s more gruesome than anything else. I have one episode left, which I am eager to see how it all comes together. I think the storyline is pretty interesting; it sorta reminds me Succession. I like to imagine this is what would happen if Kendall Roy took over WayStar. He would for sure make a deal like this.
What I bought: My new ottoman arrived and I loved it so much I bought another one. I put them on either side of my tv console. As mentioned before, it keeps going in and out of stock so keep an eye out on it. It’s currently on sale for 40% off. I bought two for basically the price of one.
The only other item I bought this week was a new book. I am currently reading The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna. It’s a fun book to read during Halloween.

I was suppose to be going out to dinner with a few friends this weekend but our plans were reschedule for another time. A little bit of a bummer because I was looking forward to it, but am excited to get together in a few weeks! Instead I am going to see the American Ballet Theatre’s fall season performance:21st Century Works: King, Ratmansky, and Bond. I wanted to see The Dream, unfortunately couldn’t find a time to go. The costumes are so gorgeous! But I am excited to see the 21st Century Works! Other than my night at the ballet, I will spend the weekend outside as much as possible! We FINALLY have a weekend where it is not suppose to rain and I want to take advantage of it. Oh and I will be, of course, listening to 1989 (Taylor’s Version) all weekend long!! I am loving “SLUT!”, “Say Don’t Go”, and “Is It Over Now?” from the vault.
Have a wonderful and spooky weekend xo
