Happy Friday! I hope you had a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving! I took a half an hour nap yesterday, so mine was perfect.
I stayed here in New York for Thanksgiving, but I was still with family. My cousin and my other cousin’s wife took the train in from Jersey to go to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with me. This is my second time at the parade, their first. Last year I was able to squeeze my way onto Central Park West for a great view. Unfortunately this year we couldn’t move past the side streets. We watched the parade on w73rd. We weren’t able to see the bands and cheerleaders pass by but still had a great view of the floats and balloons. Really the balloons are all that we cared about anyway. We stayed at the parade for an hour and a half- it was too cold and windy to stay any longer. We went back downtown to Friedman’s for some mimosas with a side of brunch. It was a lovely morning and I am so happy I was able to experience the parade again with family.
My cousin’s went back to Jersey for the rest of the day while I stayed here in New York. I wanted a low key dinner and to just be lazy. I spent the rest of the day reading and watching Hallmark movies. I missed my family, but I know I will them in a few weeks for Christmas.
Leading up to Thanksgiving I spent the week preparing for my own little meal. Instead of turkey– because lets be honest I am not going to roast a full turkey for one person- I had steak instead. I also made my holiday go-to side dish of roasted carrots and baked pumpkin bread. I also ordered myself my favorite gluten-free brownie from Beatnic. It was a delicious meal if I do say so myself.
Besides Thanksgiving, this past week I went uptown to The Carlyle Hotel to celebrate Buru’s collaboration with Mary Orton. I wore this beautiful red midi dress. I have gotten so many wonderful compliments on it. It has a vintage vibe. I felt like a 1960s Palm Beach housewife that drinks martinis and smokes cigarettes while the children are with the nanny. I am my grandmother, haha! Anyway, the event was lovely! I got to catch up with some friends I haven’t seen in a long time. The event was centered around Mary Orton’s collaboration which consist of holiday outfits and sophisticated styles. Also displayed at the event was Mignonne Gavigan’s beautiful jewelry and accessories.
I had another photography lesson, but this time we talked about Lightroom. I am familiar with Lightroom, I use it for my content. However, I only know the basics. There is so much more I can do within Lightroom that I do not know about. It was a great lesson and we have another one schedule to continue the tutorial next week. I am so grateful for Ella and how much she has helped me these past few weeks. I am much more confident behind the camera and am almost ready to start working with clients.
What I am watching: It’s a great month for us historical fiction fans! Both The Gilded Age and The Crown are back!! This season of The Gilded Age has already been riveting. The ladies are fighting over box seats at the opera. It’s the most glamorous and petty drama– I love it!
I am only a few episodes into The Crown but it’s been great so far. I am not ready for Princess Diana’s accident. It’s going to be emotionally hard to watch.
Besides my affinity for historical fiction, I watched Jennifer Lawrence new comedy movie No Hard Feelings. I thought it was…. ok. I was a little disappointed in it to be honest. I thought it was going to be this hilarious comedy, but I think I chuckled only a few times. It was cringey and uncomfortable. Not to sound like a fuddy-duddy, but the premise itself was inappropriate. A 32 year old woman is hired to date a 19 year old and basically take his virginity before college. It’s not appropriate. I will say there are a few tender moments that I really liked.
What I bought: Now that it is Black Friday I went ahead and bought some skincare items that I needed. I bought this eye cream that I religiously use at night. It helps keep my under eyes moisturized at night. I also bought new shampoo because I needed it.

This weekend I have nothing specific on the agenda. I will hopefully finish my book, do a little work, clean my apartment, and shop Black Friday Sales. I am hoping to get out and about if the weather permits. I believe it is suppose to rain… of course.
