“Where there is a woman, there is magic”
-Ntozake Shange
Happy Friday and happy International Women’s Day! I hope you get to tell all the lovely women in your life just how much you love and appreciate them.
Since last weekend was gloomy and rainy, I hopped over to the Chelsea Art Galleries. I do not know how often the galleries change exhibition, but it is always different every time I stroll in and out of each one. Last weekend’s exhibitions were mostly abstract– which I typically like. I did see some sculptures and assemblage art which is always interesting. It was a lovely, relaxing Saturday afternoon looking at art.
Although Saturday was dreary, Sunday happened to be filled with sunshine and warmth. It was a spring-like day and I took full advantage of it. I went running for the first time since the fall…. and was very sore the next few days. I then walked around the city, enjoying the beautiful weather.
The rest of my week was mostly about self-care and work. I have a small (benign) cyst on my bottom lip. This is probably the 2nd or 3rd time I have gotten it in the exact same spot. I went to the dermatologist to check on it and to give me an injection. It’s created by dead skin and moisture– usually happens in the winter time. It doesn’t hurt, more embarrassing than anything else. Luckily it is slowly going away.
I also took half a day off Monday to frolic around Bergdorfs. I needed to get out of my apartment for my own mental health. I wanted to go shopping so I can feel the garments and play dress up. I love to try-on beautiful gowns, even if I can’t afford it (yet). It’s both inspirational, sparking my creativity, while also tapping into playful child-like behavior of dressing up. It really brighten up my day, taking me out of the gloomy state I was in.
I finally got my hair done! My roots needed a touch up. I went uptown to the Eddie Arthur Salon for a color and cut. This was my first time at the salon and I really liked it. Everyone was very nice! Connor Wells was my colorist and I am in love with the blonde highlights he did. Being a blonde and going to a new person can be scary. You never know what you are going to get, and you hope it’s worth the money you spent. I have gone to new colorist before and my hair turned out either too ashy or too orange. Connor did a fantastic job– the exact color blonde I wanted! I then cut off 2″ of my hair– Taylor Alex Mizzi cut it. I am sticking with short hair! She did an amazing job. The salon is amazing! If you are a blonde, need a haircut, or looking for a new place to go, I highly recommend Eddie Arthur Salon. Take 20% off your appointment with code: MAGGIE20.
What I am watching: Over the weekend I started watching The New Look on Apple TV+. It’s about how Christian Dior and Coco Chanel endured World WarI II. I am only a few episodes in but I think it is fantastic. I knew somewhat of Coco Chanel’s time in the war prior to watching– how she cozied up to the Nazi Party. Dior, however, I knew nothing about his time during the war. It’s very interesting and highly recommend this show! It’s a mixture of two of my favorite things: history and fashion.
I watched the new Marvel movie The Marvels with Brie Larson. I know it got bad reviews, but I enjoyed it. In my opinion it was much better than the recent Ant-Man movie. I thought it was overall entertaining, funny, and cute!
What I bought: I finally bought this floral embroidered baseball cap I have been promoting. I am glad I bought it because it is selling out fast! I can’t wait to wear it while running errands or going for walks. I also bought this green shirtdress. It’s the perfect everyday dress to throw on and go. It comes in different colors, but I do not have a green dress like this.
Last but not least I started a new book. I am currently reading Expiration Date by Rebecca Serle. It’s about a woman who has, throughout her life, been given a note that says who she will date next and for how long. It’s really enjoyable so far! The book was gifted to me by Rebecca Serle, which is very exciting because I want to also be a BookTox Influencer. This is the first time I have been gifted a book from the author! I love to read and share books. Let me know any recommendations you have!

This weekend I am meeting up with a few friends for brunch. I am excited to get together, and to try a new (to me) restaurant. Other than my brunch date, I will hopefully be out and about. It looks like it is suppose to rain again all weekend, so possibly that will not be the case. Will have to play it by ear what I will do. I will, of course, be watching The Oscars!
Have a wonderful weekend xo
