“In the sun, I feel as one”

-Nirvana

Happy Friday! It’s officially spring, yet it still feels like winter. I am more than ready to ditch my gloomy winter clothes for spring dresses. Luckily I am about to jet-set off to Florida for some leisure and sunshine.

I went to my first physical therapy session for the pain in my neck and traps. It was a quick and easy session. Basically she just showed me a few exercises she wants me to do at home to help strengthen the muscle. I have to be honest,  I personally do not see the benefits of physical therapy. I think it works when you are for some reason immobile; broke or twisted something, can’t walk, surgery, etc. However, when it comes to minor pains I do not see how it helps. The exercises given to me are ones I  already do during my workouts. I get these exercises are to help strengthen the area; preventative care. I just do not see how it heals a strained muscle. This is also not my first time at PT. I know I need to do physical therapy before anything else can happen like an MRI. I am doing my exercises at home because even though I may not think it’s necessary, I am also not a doctor or a therapist. I want to keep an open mind when it comes to PT; just because I do not see the point, doesn’t mean it will not help. So I will obliged.

I went to my last DanceBody class of the quarter. It was a fun class! The instructor, Marisa, added a few older dances into the mix which switched things up and made it fun! I enjoy doing throwback dances every now and again. Anyway, they will introduce a while new set of dances at the beginning of April. I am looking forward to what’s coming!

The rest of my week was basically getting things in order for my trip. I got a fresh new set of gel nails from Glosslab. I went with a  mauve pink color this time instead of my usual red. If you want to try Glosslab or if it’s your usual go-to nail salon, take 20% off your next appointment with code: MAGGIE20.

What I am watching: Last Sunday morning I was lazily scrolling through streaming services trying to find something to watch when I stumbled upon an oldie but goodie. I saw that Sweet Valley High is now on Prime and I had to watch it!! I haven’t seen the beloved 90s show since it originally aired. I also read the books as a kid. Sweet Valley High is about teenage twin sisters, Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield, who are complete opposites. The show is a little like Clueless in that they are rich kids living in California– as well as a fashionable, rich red head friend. The show is just as enjoyable as I remembered it to be.

I watched the new doc-series Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV on Max. It’s about Dan Schneider, who was a major producer and writer for Nickelodeon in the 90s and early 2000s. It’s about how toxic he made the work environment; racist, sexist, uncomfortable. Also how he would put sexual innuendo’s into the shows… that kids were doing or saying to entertain children. It also goes into the horrors that Drake Bell experienced being SA by Brian Peck. It’s horrible what happened to these Nickelodeon kids. I never watched any of Dan Schneider’s shows growing up. Without even knowing who produced them, I never liked the shows- never found them to be funny. I was also not the age bracket when most of his shows were produced; in college or in my 20s. I did watch as a kid Salute Your Shorts, Double Dare, and Legends of the Hidden Temple. I was glad none of which were part of Dan Schneider’s products. Anyway, Hollywood does not protect child stars and we have seen it happen for decades; from Shirley Temple to Amanda Bynes. It’s disgusting and vile, and needs to stop.

What I bought: The only thing I bought this week was a new book that I am about to start reading once I finish this other one. Other than that I have all that I need for my vacation, so didn’t buy anything new.
