“The art of making space for what’s to come”

-Michelle C Clark

Happy Friday! Did you watch the eclipse? What a unique experience! I watched it for a little while, but didn’t see it in its totality.

I didn’t have eclipse glasses to begin with. I knew that NYC wasn’t going to be in the path of totality. Because of that I was under the impression that it wouldn’t be worth seeing or hard to see (cloudy etc). However, over the weekend I changed my tune and wanted to witness this astronomical event. I went to different places trying to find a pair, but came up short. The day of the eclipse I made the classic make-shift shoebox viewer. I took my little homemade viewer across the street when a girl just handed me her glasses. She said she was done looking at it and I could have them- very kind of her! A little while later a woman stopped by our group of strangers who didn’t have glasses, I started sharing mine with her.

At one point while I took my glasses off to give to her I accidentally caught a glimpse of the sun for a second. I internally freaked out. I handed the glasses to the woman and told her to keep them. I then went home. My right eye was hurting for a while, but luckily I am fine. My eyes are sensitive to the light which is why I always wear sunglasses in all of my photos. Between potentially going blind and getting a little headache from the light, I was done.

After my little overdramatic moment I went home and watched from my window– not the sun but waited for when it became dark. I was a little disappointed. I wanted complete blackout; an ominous darkness. It looked as if it were dusk outside. I know NYC wasn’t in the path of totality, but I wanted something spookier. Still it was a cool experience and hopefully I am around for the next one in 2044– and I will be better prepared.

Besides participating in the another natural phenomenon the rest of my week was ordinary. DanceBody has introduced their Q2 dances. I went to my first class of the quarter this past Tuesday to try and learn the dances. As usual some of the dances I can pick up naturally, and quickly, by going to class and others I will have to learn through their breakdown videos online. I am enjoying the new dances– really like “Jump Off” and “Buzzin”.

I went back to physical therapy this week. I still haven’t seen much improvement in my neck and trap pain. My therapist spent our time together giving me a massage to loosen up the knots. My neck has been feeling really stiff lately. That is what hurts the most at the moment. I have to go back to the sports medical doctor to figure out what the next steps are, while I continue PT. My neck and back do feel a whole lot better after we loosened the muscle, but it’s not sustainable. I can’t get a massage and/or go to acupuncture once a week for the rest of my life.

What I am watching: in honor of The Masters starting this week, I watched season 2 of Full Swing on Netflix. It’s the docuseries where they follow pro golfers throughout the PGA tour. I really like the series as it shows you the behind the scenes. You also get to know some of the players more. This season has been interesting with the merging of LIV and the PGA, as well as showing the Ryder Cup.

I finally watched the movie The Hating Game with Lucy Hale. It’s a book adaptation— which I haven’t read. I wanted to read the book first before the movie, but then kept putting that off to read other books first. The movie has also been on my list to watch since it came out a few years ago. I forgot about the movie for a while, then when I couldn’t find anything to watch over the weekend I decided to put it on. I really enjoyed it! Very cute and the perfect romcom recipe. I am sure the book is a lot better and maybe someday I will get around to reading it.

What I bought: I wanted to get a cute new dress for the spring– possibly to take on my trip to the Hamptons in a few weeks. I bought this floral midi dress in a size small. Still waiting for it to be delivered to see if it fits and if I like it. Hopefully it works out!
