Happy Friday and Memorial Day weekend! It’s officially the kick-off to summer and I couldn’t be more excited. The weather is lovely, people and dogs are out and about, flowers are blooming. I love summer in the city.
Last weekend I took a day trip to Connecticut with my friend Sarah to the Fenimore Lane and Ariel Okin Design Summit. The summit was held at The Mayflower Inn–The inspiration to Gilmore Girl’s Dragon Fly Inn and Stars Hallow in general. You could guess my excitement!
The entire day was wonderful. They had two shopping bazaars filled with some of my favorite home decor brands, introduced to some new ones as well. Our friend Jacquelin, owner of The Sleepy Flea, was one of the vendors at the summit. She sells antiques– not just saying this because she is my friend, but her vintage finds are amazing. She was a huge hit at the bazaar and I am so happy for her!
Besides shopping there were two panel discussions that Sarah and I attended. The first panel was about color and paint; panelist were Ariel Okin, Farrow & Ball, and Annie Meyers-Shyer (Nancy Meyers daughter!). I learned that if you are testing out paint samples, do not place them together on the wall. The colors will clash together and change.
The second panel discussion was about lighting; panelist Ariel Okin and Anthony D’Argenzio from Mitzi Lighting. My takeaway from the panel discussion is that LED lights are a no-no, as well as recessed ceiling lights. Lantern lights, however, will never go out of style.
The entire day was lovely and I enjoyed learning more about interior design. It’s something that I have been really interested in lately. I can not wait until the day that I have my own house so I can decorate.
The fun did not stop there, Monday evening was the Guest of a Guest book club. The event was held at The Garden at The Standard East. The book of the month was The Girl from the Grand Hotel by Camille Aubray. It’s a historical fiction about the first ever Cannes Film Festival, which was held in 1939, right on the brink of WWII. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Anyway, the book club gathering was lots of fun. It was filled with charcuterie, champagne, and great conversations.
I went back to physical therapy and also to the doctor to figure out the next steps in my injury. They scheduled me with a new doctor, for reasons unbeknownst to me. I didn’t mind though, he was actually taking action towards healing me rather than just giving me injections of medicine. I now have to get an x-ray and an MRI. He also prescribed methylprednisolone which is a type of steroid, as well as cyclobenzaprine which is a muscle relaxer. Both only being taken for a few days. He believes I have a pinch nerve in neck herniated disc. My original doctor thought it was a strained muscle. We will see who is right once I get my imaging done. I am happy we are moving forward. Physical therapy wasn’t working and either were the shots of medicine.
The rest of my week was all work– working on a few collaborations. I also went to my usual DanceBody full-out class. I am much more confident in the dances; just in time for them to switch out the music next month.. haha!
What I am watching: Twitter convinced me to rewatch Desperate Housewives and I am so glad it did. I haven’t seen it since it went off air in 2012. I forgot how great this show is. Rewatching it I remember a few storylines, and completely forgot about others. It’s both nostalgic and new. Enjoyable to watch!
I watched Madame Web and… I… liked it?! No it’s not the best movie I have ever seen, but I also do not think it’s as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I thought it did exactly what a superhero film should do, be filled with action and suspense. I am also not familiar with the comic book, so maybe the movie doesn’t give it justice. Who knows. I enjoyed it for what it was.
What I bought: Perfect timing for my standing fan to break right when I need it the most. I bought this silver tower fan on sale to replace the one I have– same brand and style.

This weekend I am staying in New York. I have a birthday celebration tomorrow night, which will be lots of fun. Other than the party I want to relax this weekend. Do my usual of reading, going for walks around the city, perhaps lay-out in the park.
