“We are what we believe we are”

Happy Friday! The sun is out and it’s finally the weekend. I love summer. It is my favorite season. I love the way it makes me feel; free and optimistic. I love how everyone is out and about. I may complain about being overly hot, but summer will always be my favorite season.
Last weekend I went out with a few friends for a fun Saturday night. We started the evening at the Royalton Hotel rooftop, Simona, in Nomad. Simona is a cute sundeck bar with yellow flowers everywhere. They have light bites with either a vegetarian or seafood option. We order both to share. Simona is a great place to go to start the evening or for after work drinks.
After the Simona we went to a newish cocktail bar in West Village called Serpentine. I have been wanting to go there for a while as I regularly pass the cute front display. It was a fun bar, had one too many coupes of Prosecco. I enjoyed the atmosphere; crowded but was still able to get seats at the bar. Serpentine would make for a great date night choice.
The rest of my week wasn’t as fun, but much more organized. A little late spring cleaning. I went through all of my clothes to do a clean out. I donated 3 bags to Goodwill. Sent clothes to The Real Real and J.Crew Recycle. Then put some stuff up on Poshmark. I still feel I need to do another clean out, but it felt great to get rid of some stuff. Out with the old and in with the new!
I went to my usual DanceBody full out class. Now that we are in the 3rd month of the quarter they have switched up some of the songs. Turns out I really do not know “Jump Off”. That came as a surprise. Apparently I use the music as cue for what movement comes next instead of using muscle memory. Oh well haha! Still a fun one to do! I really enjoyed the dances this quarter so will be sad to see them go. However I am excited for next quarter dances- the summer ones are always so much fun!
I finally had my MRI done for my neck and trap pain. I have never done an MRI before. I was a little anxious when they were setting me up on the gurney. I wouldn’t say that I am claustrophobic but I do like my space. Luckily I was only half in the tube. When they first put me in the tube I did have a moment of panic; of the unknown, being in a tube, and not being able to move. I kept reminding myself to calm down, it’s just like a tanning bed. It helped that they have a small mirror on the face shield so when I opened my eyes I can either look into my eyes or out the back window. I also had them put meditation music on to help keep calm. I was only in the tube for 10 mins- I do not know how people do it for more than that. My next step is going back to my doctor to go over my x-ray and MRI results. Hopefully now we can figure out what is truly causing the pain and go on from there.
What I am watching: I finally watched Boys in the Boat. It’s about the 1936 University of Washington rowing team starring Callum Turner. After seeing him in Masters of the Air and now this I really like him as an actor– and he is very handsome. Anyway, the movie is really good. I kept thinking about how grueling of a movie this was for the actors– having to row. I also had to laugh when they showed the original men, they looked so small compared to their counterparts- the actors who portrayed them. It’s a really good movie.
I started watching PLL: Original Sin Summer School. I’ve been enjoying it so far this season. I have no idea who Bloody Rose is. I have in mind some suspects but nothing concrete.
What I bought: I ended up buying this white midi dress with tie-shoulder straps. I am planning on wearing it for the 4th of July- if it fits. Besides the 4th I think this is a great dress to have to throw on during a hot summer day.

My cousin’s wife and her friend are in town this weekend. I will be meeting up with them at some point. I do not know what all we are going to do, but it will be fun! Other than that I am planning on taking it easy this weekend. I am getting over a little cold, plus I have been going a mile a minute lately. The next few weeks will be busy, so I want to take the time now to relax. I just started a new book (a book club choice) – The Husbands by Holly Gramazio. I am hoping to spend most of my weekend reading it– and of course watching Bridgerton!!
Have a wonderful weekend xo
