Happy Friday! I am already counting down the days until the 4th of July! I think it’s going to be a wonderful celebration filled with family, friends, and laughter. If you are still preparing for the 4th, check out my outfit ideas, party supplies, and home decor

Last weekend I went out on the town with a few friends. We started the evening with dinner at American Bar. I always enjoy going there. The food is good, the atmosphere is great. We had a wonderful time; lots of drinks and laughter. Plus I finally got their matchbook! I have started collection matchbooks and have been eyeing the American Bar one for a while. It has this unique illustration on it.

After American Bar we went to the cute While We Were Young Bar for a few more drinks. While We Were Young is a great place to kick-start the night; especially for a girls night out. We then ended the night back at Serpentine. A newish cocktail bar in West Village. I really like this bar; not overly crowded, great drinks. It was a fun night out with the girls!

Last night I went to see the American Ballet Theatre perform Woolf Works. It was originally performed by The Royal Ballet in 2015.  It’s a reimaging of 3 Virginia Woolf novels; Mrs. Dalloway, Orlando, and The Waves. Each piece was unique and very moving. The first was about Mrs. Dalloway; two strangers reflect on their past. The music and the movements were beautiful; fluid like liquid. The second, Orlando, was more futuristic with laser lights and gold costumes. I thought this one was very creative with the use of lighting and movement. The last piece was The Waves, arguably a soliloquy, shows inner thoughts of being childless and dealing with depression. It was emotional and sad.

The rest of my week wasn’t as fun as a night out, but I got a lot done. I worked on a lot of content this week so I have something to post next week while I am home in Ohio for the 4th. I want to be able to have as much time as possible with my family and not worry about work. I also started a new book-  This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune. So far I am enjoying it!

What I am watching: I watched the Netflix documentary about the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders… and I.. am.. obsessed! I can’t stop talking about it. As a previous cheerleader and dancer, this documentary was right up my alley. I related so much to it– from the discipline to being criticized to loving performing and more. I have gone down the rabbit hole in learning more about the history of DCC– I find it all so fascinating. These women are truly remarkable. Their talent and kindness is beyond. It made me wish I was part of DCC.. until I remember the jump splits. I am sure I could do one in my 20’s– I used to be able to do a cartwheel into the splits. Not quite the same, but the same. I do want to learn the “Thunderstruck” dance. Anyway, there is so much I loved about the documentary but was also disappointed to learn the women get paid minimum wage. I had no idea being an NFL cheerleader was only a part-time job. These women deserve to be paid more, considering how much revenue they bring in through marketing.

What I bought: I finally bought this plaid mini dress— currently on sale for 50% off. I’ve been looking for a new dress to wear while out and about that will keep me cool in the heat. Next, as mentioned, I bought this book to read.

This weekend I do not have any plans. I am ok with going out and also ok with not going out. Will play it by ear. I will, however, pack for my trip home to Ohio. I will be in Columbus all next week to celebrate the 4th of July and also to attend my high school reunion. Other than that I will be reading my book, going on a run, and enjoying summer in the city. Since I will be gone all next week I will not be updating my blog or Substack except for a FSS series.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
