Happy Friday! I am on my way back to New York after a few days home in Ohio. As you may remember from last week’s FSS, I was having a very bad week. I decided to go home to be with my family, recoup, take a little break from social media and the blog. Being home was exactly what I needed. I am feeling much better.
I spent all last weekend laying on the couch watching tv. I needed to zone out and do nothing. I was able to get out for a long walk on the west side river path, but the rest of the time was spent watching Hallmark movies, reading, and stress cleaning. I finally left my apartment on Monday when I went uptown to the Met Museum to see the Met Gala exhibition Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. If you haven’t been to see the exhibit you must– it ends soon.
The exhibition was beautiful. I loved looking at all of the stunning, intricate garments. From the 1700’s to present, they have a variety of dresses, coats, menswear, hats, and more. The craftsmanship of some of these garments were astonishing– seashells, beading, florals, and more. One of my favorite items of the exhibit was this dress that was sheer fabric revealing flowers in the skirt. Then the dress, from designer Jun Takahashi, would light up! It was so creative and beautiful.
I flew home to Ohio on Tuesday and spent the day with my parents and my niece. Wednesday I went shopping with my parents at Easton Town Center. Then went to my favorite Mexican restaurant, El Vaquero, for my family birthday dinner. Yesterday was spent with my parents and my niece (who they babysit twice a week). We went to the park, watched the Minions movie, played spa day, and blew bubbles. I loved every minute of it! In the late afternoon I went to the pool with my dad to swim for a little bit. It was so nice to swim– one last dip of the summer.
Today my dad and I are driving back to New York where my dad will stay the weekend to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately my mom is unable to come– she is staying home with my grandmother.
What I am watching: Over the weekend I watched A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder on Netflix. I didn’t read the book, and didn’t know much about the story, but I wanted something simple to binge watch. I actually really liked it! I thought it kept my attention each episode and enjoyed the murder mystery. Highly recommend.
What I bought: My parents bought me a new trench coat for my birthday along with these textured gold hoop earrings. Both on sale!

As mentioned I am heading back to NYC with my dad to celebrate my birthday for the weekend. We have plans to go out to dinner, see a broadway show, and attend a Yankee’s game. It will be a great weekend spent with my dad.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
