“You’ll never regret romanticizing your life. Take the smallest moments, and make them into something beautiful”

-Authentic Edge

Happy Friday! I’ve changed my mind. I want to do rhythmic gymnastics in the Olympics. Dancing and twirling around with a ribbon?! I already do that at home… and after a few margaritas.

My entire week has once again been consumed by the Olympics. I am so immersed in the games I had no idea there is a hurricane (tropical storm) wreaking havoc on the east coat. That is until it started to rain here in New York. However, the Paris Olympics have been so enjoyable, it’s been a nice break from reality.

I went to my usual DanceBody full-out class. I pretty much have all the dances down, I just need to continue to familiarize my body with the movements. With some of the sequences my body wants to continue on to do another step, but instead it’s a completely different movement. Part of the overall challenge and fun of DanceBody. Keeps me on my toes. I am really enjoying the Q3 dances.

My week wasn’t all athletic, Monday evening I went to an early screening of It Ends With Us starring Blake Lively. It’s the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s book that has been so wildly popular. I read the book and loved it, and have to say I really enjoyed the movie as well. The movie follows the book pretty accurately. There is only one part that is taken out and quite frankly I am glad they did– it’s the Ellen Degeneres stuff. In the book I found that to be silly, but I also understand why it was there. Anyway, the movie screening was at the Roxy Theater in the Roxy Hotel in Tribeca. I have always wanted to see a movie there! It’s this chic underground theater where the decor is 1920’s art deco. They usually show indie films or cult classics.

Prior to the screening we were all gathered around the little bar area sipping on Blake Lively’s alcohol and mocktail brand Betty Booze and Betty Buzz. I didn’t feel like drinking so I had one of her signature mocktails, the sparkling apple ginger sour cherry flavor. I thought it was good! They also had lots of hors d’oeuvres like mini burgers, veggie kabobs, cucumber bites, and more. After the screening they had cupcakes and strawberries with whip cream. All very delicious!

After we watched the movie the entire cast, including Colleen Hoover, came out for a Q&A. Well everyone but Justin Baldoni – much speculation on cast drama. Anyway, Blake Lively is a gem. She seems super sweet. Jenny Slate is hilarious and would love to be best friends with her and Blake. Brandon Skelnar is so handsome– the perfect Atlas! They talked about making the movie, what they take from their characters, and how important this film is for survivors of domestic violence. I highly recommend watching the movie– you do not have to read the book first. I really hope they make the sequel!

The rest of the week was rainy. Much needed rain, but still puts a damper on things. I wanted to go to the Met Museum, but didn’t want to travel in the rain. This is when I wish I had a car here in New York. Hopefully next week I can go to the museum to see the Met Gala exhibit before it ends in October.

What I am watching: Still watching the Olympics. With gymnastics and swimming over, I have been watching artistic swimming and rhythmic gymnastics. Both of which I find to be such beautiful and artistic sports. Also have been enjoying equestrian– one of my other favorites sports. Horses are my favorite animal, so I enjoy both dressing and jump.

What I bought: The only thing I bought this week was a new book: Elin Hilderbrand newest book Swan Song. I am thoroughly enjoying it so far.

The rest of the weekend I plan on reading, working out, frolicking around, and watching the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.
