“Things have a miraculous way of working out. Trust that”

-anon

Happy Friday! TGIF! I am ready for some much needed r&r this weekend. This week has been a roller coaster of emotions and I look forward to taking sometime for myself to steady my anxiety.

I have to be honest and say I am having a terrible week. I am going through some personal things and it’s been really heavy on my mind, body, and spirit. I know I will get through it, like I always do, but right now it feels too much. Life isn’t always flower dresses and champagne, it can be tough. I could go on and on and complain about my woes, and I do talk things through with my family. However, I am also a firm believer that complaining only increases stress. Get it out and let it go, no need to continue to waste energy on negativity. So while I may be feeling numb, defeated, and low, I am trying to remind myself the sun will come out. A new day will dawn and things will get better. If you are also feeling low, remind yourself that this isn’t forever and things will be ok. And it’s ok to not be ok.

While I may not be having a great week, I still enjoyed a lot of it. I went to my usual DanceBody full-out class. At this point I know the dances. I still mess up here and there, but I think overall I have a good grasp on the steps and movements. I am really enjoying this quarter’s dances– I find them challenging, fun to do, and a great workout.

Also this past week I was invited to the Lyssé offices to look through their upcoming seasonal collections. Lyssé is a womenswear brand that focuses on workwear and streetwear. I tried on a few of their workwear pieces – these cropped pants and this pink silk blouse– and found them to be comfortable. Their seasonal collections are affordable, usually under the $200 mark. They also specialize in pull-on pants for comfort and mobility.

Speaking of fashion, I went all the way uptown to the Met Museum Wednesday to finally see the Met Gala Exhibition….. and it was closed. I completely forgot the Met Museum is closed on Wednesdays. Rookie mistake! I don’t know what I was thinking! When I walked up to the Met and saw that it was quiet I thought- great I will be able to see the exhibit without a large crowd. Then I saw the sign that it was closed and I understood why no one was walking up and down the famous stairs. I was pretty bummed- all I wanted to do was listen to French music and look at art. Instead I decided to frolic around Central Park, which was just as lovely.

One plan that did go well for me this week was getting a lobster roll. I finally had my gluten free lobster roll from Luke’s Lobster in Union Square. I haven’t had lobster at all this summer and didn’t want the season to end without having one. Luke’s Lobster is the only (as far as I know) restaurant in New York that serves gluten free lobster rolls. It was delicious- brightened my day!

What I am watching: Emily is Paris is back!! I am not afraid to admit I love this show. I know it’s silly, and Emily is ridiculous, but I love it for the escapism it brings. I enjoy all the fashion, it being in Paris, the love-triangle drama, her friends and colleagues, and more. I know Emily and Mindy are the fashionista on the show, but give me all of Sylvie’s clothes! She is so chic!

What I bought: I needed to replenish my shampoo and my cleanser. I also bought a new book: Done and Dusted: The Rebel Blue Ranch series by Lyla Sage. I was gifted the 2nd book in the series a few months ago and enjoyed the book, so I figured I should go ahead and read the 1st book.

This weekend I am going to lay low. I need a mental break from things and I do not have the bandwidth to socialize. I will still get out and about, because being out and about is good for my mental health. However, I also need alone time, some solitude, to replenish my spirit. I need a very demure, very mindful weekend (iykyk).

Have a wonderful weekend xo
