“Creativity is intelligence having fun”

Happy Friday! And happy Wicked release day to those that celebrate! I am waiting to see Wicked for when I am home in Ohio during the holidays. This way I can see it with my sister and mom. Trust me it will take all of my will power to wait that long. I’ve also decided to not listen to the movie soundtrack so I can hear Ariana Grande and Cynthia Ervio sing the songs for the first time during the movie. It will make it that much more special and exciting! I can’t wait!

Besides geeking out over musical theater, my week was once again a little quiet. However, last weekend was filled with friends and fun. Saturday night I went to one of my book club friend’s new townhouse for a housewarming party. She just moved in about a month or so ago. It was mixed theme between Christmas and Taylor Swift… a Swiftmas if you will. She decorated her Christmas tree with Taylor Swift ornaments, had a large friendship bracelet that said “Merry Swiftmas”, Taylor Swift shaped cookies, and played Taylor’s songs. I loved it! It was so wonderful being back with my book club friends and meeting new people.

Sunday I met up with another set of friends for brunch at Lulla in Chelsea. One of our friends moved to Sweden 6 months ago for love. She met this amazing guy while in Europe and they have been together for over 5 years. Now they live happily ever after in Sweden together after being long distances for so long. Waiting for Hallmark to call them to create a movie out of their love story! Anyway, my friend was in town for work purposes, and because she missed NYC and us. I loved getting to hear about her life in Sweden, how she is acclimating to a new culture. It was also wonderful to catch up with my other friends- lots of new moms in the group! The restaurant, unfortunately, wasn’t the best. We all thought the service wasn’t great and the food, in my opinion, wasn’t anything to write home about.

The only non-work thing I did this week was an overdue visit to the optometrist. It’s been 10 years since I last went to see an eye doctor… I know, I know…. I am up to date with all of my other doctor appointments and go frequently. For some reason I just kept putting off going to the eye doctor and 10 years later here I am. I guess since I haven’t had any real issues it wasn’t a pressing matter. Well good news is that I still have 20/20 vision and healthy eyes. Yay!

What I am watching: Lincoln Lawyer is back for season 3! I think it’s an underrated show on Netflix. Each season has been great, including this one. Definitely recommend!

I watched Hot Frosty on Netflix starring Lacey Chabert and Dustin Milligan (from Schitt’s Creek). It’s awful… really bad…. I loved it! 10/10 would recommend! It’s so bad it’s good. The humor, the plot, the acting is all silly but who cares. It has all the recipe for a feel good movie.

What I bought: I pretty much only bought books this week. After finishing Kelly Bishop’s memoir, I wanted to continue on and listen to another on audiobooks. It was between Ina Garten memoir and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s biography until I saw Cher’s memoir and well, it’s Cher…it obvious holds precedence to the others. So I am listening to Cher The Memoir part 1. Right now she is discussing her family history and it’s depressing. Her grandmother became a mom at age 12….. her mom had Cher when she was 19 years old. Both were in poverty. A really sad story but obviously one with a happy ending. I am mostly excited to hear about her days during The Sunny and Cher Show.

Next I bought a romcom book Not in Love by Ali Hazelwood. So far I am loving it! If you are unfamiliar with Ali Hazelwood as an author, her books are always (at least mostly) about two scientists falling in love. It has all the romance feels to it, but also a layer of intelligence with being centered around women in STEM. Ali Hazelwood herself is a neuroscientist, so she knows what she is talking about. Anyway, I love her books and this one is no different!

This weekend I have nothing on the agenda which is fine. It looks like it might rain this weekend and I am perfectly happy with staying cozy indoors watching Hallmark movies. Next week will be busy with holiday parties and Thanksgiving, so I am ok with the calm before the storm. One thing I do have on my agenda is to repaint my walls. Living in this apartment for 5 years now there are obviously marks on the walls. My Super provided me with the paint they use and I am going to touch up the marks on the walls. I know my Super technically should hire someone to repaint my place, but I want to do it myself. This will be a fun little project for me.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
