“I want to be great or nothing”

-Little Women

Happy Friday! I wanted to take a moment to say that my thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the fires in California. I can not fathom the devastation of losing your home and belongings. It completely breaks my heart for everyone who has lost everything. It also makes me so upset to think about all the pets and wildlife animals that are scared and alone right now. Please take care of each other and our furry friends. I hope you are safe and have found shelter.

It’s hard to sit here and watch while people are losing their homes. I have donated money and am trying to also donate clothes to help as much as I can. I know some of the fires have been reduced or completely put out, which is fantastic to hear! I keep watching the helicopters fly over burning structures and trees, dumping gallons of water. It’s like watching The Avengers in real life. A huge thank you to the brave men and women, and those from neighboring countries and states, who are currently fighting the fires.

While this week may have been devastating to watch, it had moments of happiness sprinkled in. Last weekend I went to Little Hen in Soho with a few friends for a late lunch and afternoon tea. Little Hen is this cute little breakfast and brunch cafe that has the prettiest decor. I loved their floral mixed and matched china, along with their dark green velvet chairs. Anyway, I ended up having GF avocado toast with tea and shared a tiered stand with my friends– I only had one macaron as the rest wasn’t GF. It was a nice afternoon catching up with friends and having tea.

Spending time with friends didn’t end there. I met up with Katie for lunch at Le Moulin in the Upper East Side this past Wednesday. I haven’t seen Katie in a while so it was nice to catch up. The restaurant is this cute little french cafe tucked away on York St. I had the Niçoise salad– my favorite salad dish. It was a nice way to spend an afternoon and trying a new-to-me restaurant.

I went to my first DanceBody class of the year! They have started new dances for Q1. I was really nervous to go because I have been sick for 2 weeks and wasn’t sure if my stamina was going to be up to par. During the first or second dance I realized I was going to be in trouble– would be worn-out quickly. Luckily I mustered up enough energy, and then some, towards the end of class. So far my favorite dances are “WHATCHU KNO ABOUT ME” by Glorilla and “squabble up” by Kendrick Lamar. However, there are more dances to come.

What I am watching: It’s my favorite season… award season! The Golden Globes kicked off award season this past Sunday evening. I thought it was an overall great award show! Nikki Glaser killed it during the opening monologue plus here little skits  during the show were just a humorous. I thought everyone looked fantastic– very little red carpet looks that I personally thought were disastrous. My favorite red carpet looks were: Zendaya, Selena Gomez, Dakota Fanning, Elle Fanning, Emma Stone, Zoe Saldana, and Anya Taylor-Joy. There were plenty more that I loved, but these were my favorites. Overall I enjoyed the show– thought some movies (ahem Wicked) were snubbed. Do not get me started on The Bear and Jeremy Allen White winning for comedy…. I like The Bear but it is NOT a comedy. Season 3 was awful and I will stand by that. Shrinking, Only Murders in the Building, and Man on the Inside are incredible shows and deserve to win!

I watched the new Netflix movie The Six Triple Eight starring Kerry Washington. It’s based on the true story of an all black women army during WWII. They were tasked with organizing mail for the soldiers. For almost a year the soldiers were not receiving mail, and their mail to their families were not being sent out. These women worked around the clock to ensure the mail gets shifted through and delivered. It boosted morale within the troops. The movie is as heartwarming as it is heartbreaking. It’s an incredible story– highly recommend!

What I bought: I didn’t buy anything new this past week but I have started the second book of A Court of Thorns and Roses series — A Court of Mist and Fury. While I am enjoying the second book, I like the first book much more. Without giving anything away, Feyre is starting to irritate me…

This weekend I will be mostly working. I got my first collaboration of the year (yay!!!) and it’s a quick turnaround. I will be working on content for it this weekend. However, I hopefully will have the time to go for a walk around the city if the weather permits of course. I will spend the rest of the time reading, working out, and having a weekend of leisure.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
